Summer of the....Doctor's Appointments?!?!?

Isn't there a book called Summer of the Monkeys? And, I know there's on called Summer of My German Soldier. I think we'll just call this Summer of the Doctor's Appointments. It all started almost two weeks ago when we had to take Brianna to the ER. I don't think I ever posted about that, but her heart was racing and she was having difficulty breathing. It was after hours, so the on-call nurse told us to take her to the ER. They hooked her up to a heart monitor, did an EKG and a chest X-ray, and gave her IV fluids.

Everything looked fine except for a slight abnormality on her EKG that they wanted us to follow-up with our doctor the next day. So, we went to the doctor the next day. He referred us to a cardiologist and wants her to wear a 24-hour heart rate monitor.

Then, last Thursday, she got hit in the head with a door. Hard. Let's just suffice it to say that this involved two kids who were misbehaving and Brianna got the worst end of it, though the hitting with the door was really an accident. It was just a bad "pump knot" and we didn't take her to the doctor.

The next day, she had this weird episode of being dizzy and unable to stand. So, back to the doctor we went. For over three hours! It was torture for all of us. As I said to some friends, 3 hours + 1 tiny exam room X 3 kids = 1 huge Calgon moment for Mom.

Everything was fine and we left with an actual appointment date for the cardiologist. Then, yesterday, we had dental appointments. All five of us. Two-and-a-half hours at the dentist office. Ugh! They found a couple of cavities in Megan. Due to her extreme fear of needles (resulting from an ER visit when she was 2 and a nurse who didn't have a clue on how to start an IV), we have been referred to a periodontist who will partially sedate Megan to do her fillings. Yes, that's another appointment. It's in July. Exactly one week from Brianna's cardiologist appointment.

I came home from the dental appointments to find a message on the answering machine. It's another doctor appointment. The one for the 24-hour heart rate monitor. It's next Tuesday. Just three days before Brianna's orthodontist appointment.
