Thanks, Girls.

I'd like to take a moment to thank my girls.

Thank you, girls, for letting me take the three hour nap tonight. It was wonderful, actually being able to crawl into bed at the ridiculously early hour of 9:00 PM. It was amazing that I was able to go to sleep with you, your brother, your dad and the two dogs watching "Kung Fu Panda" in the bed with me because, as you know, I usually can't sleep with the TV on and the slightest thing wakes me up.

Imagine my surprise when I awoke around 10:30, just enough to realize that someone -- you, perhaps? -- had turned the TV off and everyone was in bed, presumably asleep. You know how much trouble I usually have falling back to sleep once I've been awakened, but it was no trouble tonight. That fact, along with the fact that I went to sleep so early with everyone in my room surely attests to how tired I was.

So, with all that in mind, I want to thank you for waking me, on purpose, shortly after midnight to let me know that you had not, in fact, been asleep like everyone else, but had, for some reason, become overly concerned with a "bump" on Megan's head that was making her "dizzy."

Of course, she didn't look the slightest bit dizzy to me when I finally stumbled down the stairs and got my eyes focused under the three 60-watt light bulbs in the bathroom. And, I seriously doubt that the "bump," which was actually a little mole that's been on the top of her head since, oh, I don't know, the day she was born, was causing any dizziness.

And, thank you for continuing to lie in bed and talk loud enough for me to hear you from my room and continuously enough for me to finally come back down the stairs to threaten you with bodily harm ask you nicely to go to sleep since it was, you know, one in the morning.

So, here I sit, at nearly 2:00 AM, wide awake.

Thank you for this unexpected opportunity to catch up with all my email and blog buddies, read CNN online, make lists of things I don't want to forget to do during our time off and various and sundry other things that I would not have wanted to go undone while I did something crazy like, say, sleeping the full night through.

Thanks, girls. I love you.

(Yes, I really do love them...just for the record.)
