They Say It's Your Birthday...

I don't usually toot my own horn, so I hope you'll indulge me this once. It's after midnight, so it's officially...

My Birthday!!!

I'm thirty-nine today. For the first time. Really. I'll be honest: I love birthdays. I love getting pampered a couple of days each year (Mother's Day and my birthday). There has never been any danger of anyone close to me forgetting my birthday because I always start reminding them a week or two ahead of time. As a matter of fact, I have been known to celebrate a birthday week.

With my birthday being on Sunday this year, it was pretty much a given that I would enjoy a birthday weekend. Unfortunately, I spent the entire day Saturday in bed with a killer headache that would not go away. Brian finally took the kids out to get something to eat around 7:00 because I was still in bed. They brought me back something, but I couldn't eat it.

Josh saved the day, though. He bought me a Heath bar. I love those things. He insisted that it was my favorite even though Brian tried to convince him that Butterfingers were my favorite. Those two have been in a dead heat for a couple of years, but Heath has recently kind of edged out Butterfingers. Josh knows this because I always try to talk him out of any Heath bars he may have scored while trick-or-treating. ;-)

So, I started nibbling on the Heath bar and found that my stomach could tolerate that. I was actually able to eat the whole thing and, miraculously, my headache started going away. Then, I was able to eat some of the food that Brian brought me and I'm finally feeling *much* better.

Just in time to get a good night's rest and enjoy my day of self-indulgence when I get up. *big grin*

  3. Happy, happy, happy birthday!!! As a fellow Heath lover, I hope you have a fantastic day!! You deserve a Heath Blizzard with *extra* Heath in it! (That's my favorite Heath inspired treat ;))

If you'll indulge the sap for a moment, I treasure your friendship and am blessed to have you in my corner on this parenting and schooling journey. I appreciate that you 'get' me and that we share so many of the same tendencies.

Now if I could only get my blogging back up to speed, we'd really be in sync :)

  4. Happy Birthday! Sorry to hear about the headache. Kinda weird, but a similar thing happened to me yesterday. That's only the third migraine I've ever gotten, too, but for me after about three hours in bed I woke up pretty much better. Sorry to hear that yours took the whole day. So, I guess you deserve double pampering today since you missed out yesterday.

Enjoy your last year as a thirty-something. Can't wait to hear how you all celebrate!

  7. I love Mother's Day and my birthday for the same reasons as you. I turned 40 this year and have always sworn to not be depressed about birthdays, but instead to embrace them and celebrate.
I hope your birthday is a good one.

  14. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one who loves birthdays : )
My birthday is May 13th, so starting in November, on the 13th of each month (minus December) I call my Dad to give him the countdown. Then starting 1-2 weeks ahead of time I call and leave a message on his answering machine every day.

This year, my mind has been so much on preparing for the baby and trying to feel good that I missed some days calling him. He actually called me and left messages on those days. He sounded more excited than me.

Well I hope you have a fantastic birthday : )

  24. Happy Birthday! My birthday and Mother's Day are very close, so sometimes they get smooshed together, but I also enjoy the pampering.

Hope you had a wonderful day!
