Weekly Wrap-Up: The Saying Goodbye Edition

It's been a crazy busy week. As I mentioned, my grandmother passed away last Sunday, so we've had a busy, buy week with visitation, the funeral, and spending time with out-of-town family members, some of whom I haven't seen in years that can be measured in more than a single decade.


My grandmother's funeral was a time of sad good-byes, but also of happy, laughter-filled, joyful remembrances. It says something about the caliber of my grandmother's life and character when you look at the people she's left behind -- her legacy. She raised boys who love and serve the Lord. They married women and raised children who love and serve the Lord. Those children married spouses and raised children who love and serve the Lord. And one of those children, a great-grandchild, has even married and begun to raise children who love and serve the Lord. Five generations of Christ-followers speaks volumes about the kind of people I was blessed to call my grandparents.


I got a new 'do, partly so I wouldn't feel scraggly-looking when I saw relatives I haven't seen in awhile, but mostly because it was time. The new cut is shorter than I'd planned, but I really like it and got lots of compliments, even from people who didn't know it was a new 'do, so it must suit me. What do you think? I brought home this beautiful basket of flowers after the funeral:



My step-mom told me which ones could be outside and which ones could be outside, but I'll be honest -- I don't remember! I know the peace lily can be inside (It's also the only one I'm fairly confident I won't kill!) and the white flowers (which probably have a name) can be planted outside. If you're one of those green-thumb types and can tell me what the various flowers are and how to care for them, I'd be ever so grateful if you'd share your knowledge.


Yesterday, we had a play date with some friends at a local indoor playground. It was nice to get together to hang out, laugh and relax for awhile. Today, we're trying to get the house back in order (with pretty impressive progress, so far). You know how bad the house can get when you're only home long enough to eat, sleep and shower for a few days. And, of course, the kids have time to drag things out, but not put them away. I've been doing laundry and cleaning most of the day, but probably won't finish until tomorrow.
