Let's see, Monday...oh, yeah...Monday was a horrible day. The kids were misbehaving and bickering, I couldn't log on to my blog and I developed a horrible headache probably directly related to those two things. I had totally repressed that memory until just now. I think I'll repress it again.
Tuesday and Thursday were pretty normal days, except, since Thursday was the final hours countdown to New Moon, I was very much like this:
Other than the occasional outburst, however, Thursday, like Tuesday was pretty normal. Josh and Megan have been learning about the Incas, the Mayas, and the Aztecs. I'm going to try to pick up The Road to El Dorado at Blockbuster tonight. We had it on VHS, at one time, but we don't have a VCR that works anymore, so I want to get it on DVD. I think they'll be interested in seeing how much of the movie was based on what we've learned about these ancient Central and South American civilizations this week. We began making Aztec codices, little zig-zag books that the Aztecs used. I'll post details and more pictures later.
We've also been moving along with Chemistry. I didn't have everything I needed for our experiment this week, but I hope to pick up the last thing -- sand -- this weekend, so we can do the project on Monday. We usually take the whole week of Thanksgiving off, but we're a little behind this year, due to vacation, so we're going to do a couple of light, catch-up days on Monday and Tuesday.
Wednesday was Josh and Megan's music performance at a local nursing home. I am so glad the performance is over...that means no more outside classes until January!!!! I'm looking forward to the break.
Thursday, we actually got a regular, full school day in before heading to take the younger kids to my dad and step-mom's for the night. Although I'd pre-ordered my New Moon tickets, we stopped to pick them up early so we wouldn't have to wait in line. When we stopped at the theater, we saw this:
I'd heard that many theaters were doing a special double-feature of Twilight and New Moon, but when I checked online, ours wasn't supposed to be one of them. However, they were offering seats at $5 per person to see Twilight, then, you could stay in the same theater to watch New Moon. Since we'd never seen Twilight on the big screen, my husband, who loves me very much, bought us all tickets to see it, too.
It was a wonderful night!!! I loved sitting in a theater filled with Twilight fans -- predominately Twilight Moms -- who were just excited as me to see the movie. We sat around chatting and laughing with total strangers. It was really cool. And, the move was excellent!!!! I loved it! It blew Twilight out of the water. I really appreciated the fact that director, Chris Weitz stayed very true to the book. Some of my favorite lines from the book were direct quotes in the movie. The hair and make-up were so much better than in Twilight and the computer-generated images (CGI) were incredible! Love, love, loved it!! I will totally go see it again at the theater...but I'll try to wait until it comes out at the second run theater.
I've got to go run some errands and pick up my younger two, so I'll spare you any more rambling about New Moon. ;-) Tomorrow is the last day of voting for the Homeschool Blog Awards and I am currently in a far-distant second place for Best Eclectic Blog, but it ain't over till it's over, so I'd still love it if you'd vote for me, if you haven't voted already.
