Giveaway: Yoplait Frozen Smoothie Prize Pack

This giveaway is now closed.  Congratulations to Mitzi!

Thanks to MyBlogSpark and Yoplait, I had an opportunity to try Yoplait's new Frozen Smoothies.  These new fruit-filled packs are available in the frozen foods section (I found mine alongside the frozen fruits and whipped toppings).  Mixed with 1 cup of skim milk, these little packages provide a full serving of fruit for only 110 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.

We tried the Triple Berry (because our first choice, strawberry, was completely sold out).  I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was surprised to open the bag and fine big chunks of real frozen fruit.  I've tried making smoothies before, with little success -- mine haven't tasted very good.  These Yoplait Frozen Smoothies were much better than mine.  Josh loved them.  The last time I attempted to make smoothies, he politely suggested that I ask his friend's mom how she makes hers.  He drank all of his Yoplait Frozen Smoothie and what his sisters didn't finish from theirs.

If you'd like to try out these new smoothie treats, you can click here to print a coupon for $1.25 off the purchase of one package of any flavorIf you'd like to try them for free, you can enter to win a Yoplait Frozen Smoothie prize package which includes a coupon for one free package of smoothie mix and a single serving blender with which to make your smoothie.

To enter to win, simply leave me a comment telling me your favorite kind of smoothie to make at home (I'd love a recipe, too...maybe I'll learn to make a smoothie on my own yet).  I'll draw a winner on Friday, January 29.  Be sure that I've got a way to contact you because if I can't, I'll have to draw another winner and that's no fun.

I received a free package of Yoplait Frozen Smoothie mix and a single-serving blender from MyBlogSpark and Yoplait, as well as a second smoothie mix and blender to giveaway, for the purpose of reviewing it.  I received no other compensation for this review.  The opinions expressed in this review are my personal, honest opinions.  Your experience may vary.

My favorite kind of smoothy is strawberry banana. There is no rhyme or reason to my method of making them, just add a little fruit juice and yogurt to the fruit.

I like to make just a basic strawberry banana smoothie. A bit of yogurt and maybe a splash of juice. Delish!

Raspberry smoothies are our favorite. I don't follow a recipe exactly, just add in some frozen berries, banana, non-fat yogurt, a bit of POM juice, flax, honey and touch of vanilla. This makes enough for several smoothies and we all enjoy them.

Our favorite around here is:
2 bananas (they can be a little old)
1 vanilla yogurt
1 tbl. vanilla
milk
lots of ice
It tastes like banana ice cream!

Strawberry is my favorite, but I've never had much luck making them taste like the ones you buy.

I love the single serving blender!!! My boys are required to make smoothies as a regular part of their diet for their liver disorder so we can disguise yucky powders. We try to pack calories into our smoothies so they get away with using whole milk, sherbet if I have it, carnation drink mix, usually orange juice and whatever fruit we have around. They like strawberries best.

I am going to look for these at my grocery. Thanks for the review, my boys will love these.

I actually made smoothies yesterday. It was cold, and the kids needed to warm up after the smoothie, but they still enjoyed them. I made one family sized smoothie and split it by 5. 1 large tub of vanilla yogurt, 2c frozen mixed berries. 1c. apple juice. I don't usually follow a recipe. I change up the yogurt and fruit mix. In the summer, I usually add some extra ice. I've even experimented with throwing in spinach, apples, cucumbers, and beets.

We tried the Yoplait Frozen Smoothies at Costco one weekend. I took one taste and looked at my husband in surprise. I could TASTE the aspartame... yup, they're sweetened with Nutra Sweet. Now I will admit, I am very sensitive to Nutra Sweet because we've removed just about everything containing it (and high fructose corn syrup and sucralose... ok, you get the picture) from our diet. So, if you're not sensitive to the taste of aspartame, these are probably great. If you are, then this is our favorite smoothie recipe:

1 cup frozen mixed berries
1 cup OJ
1/2 cup vanilla (or plain) yogurt
1 banana (I freeze mine first)

Mix the ingredients in a blender and drink up. It probably makes two traditional servings, but I drink the whole thing myself and call it a wholesome breakfast!

Try it, even if you are not big on bananas. I'm not, but I LOVE this recipe. The bananas primarily help it thicken... and the OJ and fruit really masks the banana taste as long as your banana is not banana-bread-ready (you know, totally black) since riper = stronger flavor).

Hope you enjoy this one!

My mom makes us chocolate pudding smoothies. I'm not sure the exact ingredients, but it has pudding, chocolate ice cream and mini m-n-ms in it. She tops it with whipped cream...so good.

I love strawberry smoothies. My favorite recipe is soy milk, frozen fruit, and a scoop of protein powder. You would be amazed at how strong your fingernails are drinking that stuff.

My kids will drink just about any kind of smoothie. Except coconut. Their favorite, though, is Strawberry, Mango, Pineapple. I buy a big bag of frozen fruit and add about 2 cups of it straight from the freezer, along with 1 1/2 cups of low-fat milk, an individual sized container of vanilla yogurt and one packet of smoothie mix. (I buy these Concord Foods brand packets of smoothie powder in the produce section of our grocery store. They're very inexpensive and I just keep them in my pantry ready to use.)

We also make banana ones, pineapple-orange, strawberry, blueberry, I've been known to throw in any fresh fruit that NEEDS to be eaten soon. If I'm out of milk, I use orange or apple juice, but the consistency is a little more like a slushy than a smoothie. :)

our favorite is for breakfast in summer:

frozen banana chunks, strawberries, vanilla yogurt ( I prefer frozen yogurt), raw baby spinach, orange juice...that's it. You can't taste the spinach, and it is yummy. :)

Strawberry/Peach is our favorite!

Throw a small handful of frozen strawberries and peaches in the blender. Add a splash of OJ if you have it, if not a splash of milk. Add strawberry or peach flavored yogurt then blend until smooth! Delish!

Cool Giveaway Kris....
My fave smoothie to make is one that I love because it is so good for you and a great way to power pack in your fruits and veggies....
So, here is the recipe if you can call it that....
40 % green leafy things- kale, parsley, spinach, etc my preference is spinach
60% fruit- I use frozen fruit...I think that it needs at least one banana to sweeten it up...but you can use anything you like.
A little water to make it the consistancy you like...or you can use juice if you prefer....
That is is.
