Welcome to the March 5, 2012 edition of Homeschool Showcase, where we spotlight all the encouraging, inspiring and just plain fun ways that homeschooling families live and learn together.
You know the whole “in like a lion, out like a lamb” thing with March? I’m not quite sure how to count ours. Thursday was a warm, gorgeous, sunny spring day. Very lamb-like. Friday, though, brought more devastating tornadoes to our area – not as much mass destruction as last year, but a couple of areas were hit really hard. Very lion-like. What kind of start has your March had?
As spring approaches, spring fever often sets in. I hope you’ll find some ideas you can use in today’s Homeschool Showcase to ward off your family’s spring fever.
I want to start us off with Nicole Taulman’s don’t-miss post: Journey to Excellence: “A” is for “Attitude” posted at Journey to Excellence. I agreed with every single point (well, except the getting up before the sun part…but I do need to get up earlier).
Anna-Marie and her children recreate Monet style art work in her post at Life’s Adventures.
Kristie shares a great idea for a fun Valentine’s Day Love Scavenger Hunt that can be used for Valentine’s Day or any day that you want to share love with your family. Visit Sonshine Classical Academy for details.
Kay Duncan, at Cleaving To Christ, shares details about Typing Club, a free typing program that she has found.
Mrs. White reminisces about The Early Years of Homeschooling, sharing some of her favorite memories of her family living and learning together, posted at The Legacy of Home.
Amy Townsend shares photo, facts and memories from her family’s Mardi Gras – Field trip? posted at By His Design 5.
Julie suggests using Blogs as Geography Resources. Read her reasons and ideas at Highhill Homeschool.
Lynnae eloquently answers the question, Why Not Public School?, posted at Freelance Homeschool Mom.
This next one is seriously too cute! Tricia Hodges presents Duct Tape Purse Tutorial posted at Hodgepodge, saying, “The third in my daughter’s series on duct tape crafts! And you can make the purse with any of your favorite pattern duct tape.”
Tiger’s Mum shares resources and tips for studying the work of Renaissance monk and artists, Fra Angelico posted at The Tiger Chronicle.
Rebecca Rassi takes a humorous look at the shortcomings of her homeschool in, Charlie Brown’s Teacher: Homeschool Mom Randomness *sigh* posted at Charlie Brown’s Teacher. I can so relate.
That concludes this edition of Homeschool Showcase. Submit your blog article to the next edition, scheduled for Monday, March 19, by using our carnival submission form. Kris,
I've tried several times to submit an article for your next showcase today. (I sure hope they don't all flood through!) Unfortunately, I cannot make out the security codes no matter how hard I try- lol! Is there another way to submit a post for the showcase?
You might try again — there was something I hadn't done on my end that may have prevented it from going through. If it still doesn't work, you can follow the instructions on the guidelines page for submitting it by email: http://www.weirdunsocializedhomeschoolers.com/p/homeschool-showcase.html
Thanks!
