For many homeschooling parents, art is the one subject we’d like to include more often in our homeschools while also being the one that intimidates us the most. That’s why you’ve just got to love art lessons on DVD.

Home Art Studio

Home Art Studio offers a full line of DVD art lessons for Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each DVD, designed to last for one school year, contains 14-18 lessons.

Home Art Studio covers a variety of art mediums and Ms. Volin, your child’s personal art instructor, suggests opportunities to pull in other subjects for cross-curricular learning.

Students will learn about:

  • famous artists
  • the cultures of the countries from which various art projects are based
  • art concepts and terms

Because the DVD series is sold by grade level, you may wonder where to start for your older children.  From the Home Art Studio website:

Ideally you would begin the Home Art Studio in Kindergarten, but it is not necessary. Each grade level is age-appropriate and no one should feel lost if they join the program after Kindergarten. Many of the concepts are reinforced each year!

Check out this video that overviews the program:

When you visit the Home Art Studio website you can discover what each grade levels covers, find the supplies needed for each, and watch a sample video from each level. You can also read Ms. Volin’s blog or check out free art lessons!

The folks at Home Art Studio are giving away one grade level of your choice to one WUHS reader! Now, I’ve got to tell you, we haven’t been able to try Home Art Studio for ourselves yet because our schedule is packed right now, but it looks incredible to me. That means, if you win, you have to come back and let us all know what you and your family think of Home Art Studio after you use it for awhile. Deal?

  1. I’ve been looking at this curriculum for some time now. I would choose the 1st grade level lesson for my 3rd & 1st grader to try.

  2. I’d teach the aboriginal dot painting lesson! I’m Australian, and want my American born children to know about where I come from.

  3. I would love the Kindergarten level to use with my boys (1 Kindergartener and 2 preschoolers)! We bought an art curriculum this year but it was very disappointing, not a good fit for us.

  4. I would love to try out the 3rd grade level of this curriculum. It looks like it would give my girls a little freedom to be more creative than what we have been doing in the past…. And way more fun!

  5. I love the sunflower project. My dd loves sunflowers…guess what we are doing today? I have been looking at this art curriculum for a while! Thanks for a chance to win!!

  6. I’d love to win this! My 3rd grader loves art so much and I am so not gifted in that area…we liked the 3 dimensional oil pastel video the best 🙂

  7. Everything looks awesome! I would love to win this as art is something we don’t do enough of. I would love the 5th grade level. I really like the sunflowers too! Perfect for fall.

  9. I actually bought a portable DVD player when they were on sale so we could watch art lessons on dvd from the library in our art area and work along with. I would try the aborginal art lesson.

  10. Oh, my 8 year old daughter would love this! She took art lessons last year, but we had to drop it for financial reasons this year… we still do crafty stuff at home, but I’d love a formal curriculum – she’d thrive with it!

  11. I would like to do the Aboriginal Art lesson, but my daughter would want to do the sunflowers. She loves sunflowers, and painting.

  12. I would love this! Art is not my strength, so any help is greatly appreciated! I would guess first grade would fit our family.

  13. I’d love to try the 3D flowers with my kids because my son who is an amazing artist (unlike his mother) always wants me to teach him how to draw in 3D. This curriculum would definitely help!! 🙂

  14. I have a fourth grader who loves art! I’d love a 4th or a 5th grade curriculum to use with him! He especially loves art lessons based on animals, so we’d probably wind up trying both the clown fish and the giraffe lesson!

  15. Please enter me in the giveaway. I would love to try the 4th grade level. I teach an art class for 3-6th grade and this dvd would be great for ideas.

  19. This program looks amazing! We have a kindergartener and 1st grader, so i’d probably start with the KG sunflower lesson…

Thank you for the opportunity to win this! 🙂

  20. I would probably start with the kindergarten DVD as I have a 4th grader, 1st grader and preschooler–this way all could participate–even the littlest one 🙂
