I bring y’all a lot of reviews, but this Paperless Home Organization review is probably one of the best bargains I’ve ever shared. I’ve written before about my mom binder, school planning, the paper planner I got earlier this year that I just love, and other such posts that have probably given you the correct idea that I love organizing stuff!

In Paperless Home Organization, author Mystie Winckler shows you how to set up an efficient, paperless organization system based on your home computer and with access across all your wireless devices.

Easy steps for creating a digital binder for organizing home, work, blog, and more!

Y’all, I’m not even kidding when I tell you that some of this stuff made me absolutely giddy.

Web-Based Applications for Paperless Home Organization

This review is a little difficult to write in that I can’t gush about the specific applications involved because then y’all might think you could just go, download them all, and do it yourself without reading Mystie’s book. And, then, she’d be all, “Um, thanks for writing a review that made everybody think they didn’t need my book, Kris.”

The fact is, even if you already use some or all of the applications that Mystie uses as the basis for her organizational system, I’m betting that almost all of you will pick up tips or shortcuts that you didn’t know that will make them more effective for you than they are currently.

The tips in Paperless Home Organization led me to completely overhaul my email system and has given me freedom that I never had before when I need to respond from email away from home. With my email client, I could receive email when I was away from home, but I couldn’t send them (except when I was at Chick-Fil-A. Yes, really.). With one of the tips from Paperless Home Organization, I can now send and receive email from all three of my accounts wherever I am.

Honestly, I think Paperless Home Organization is under-priced at just $3.99. A worker deserves her wages and Mystie has put together an amazing system that I am loving.

She uses three, free, web-based applications (two of them have a paid option, but everything she does can be done with the free version) to manage:

  • email
  • family activities
  • blogging calendar
  • appointments
  • birthdays
  • filing and managing receipts, bills, warranty information and more
  • meal planning
  • homeschool planning

Basically, anything you would put in a physical home management binder, write on your calendar, or file in your filing cabinet, Mystie shows you how to organize digitally. Paperless Home Organization shows you how to save time and space while also making everything easily accessible, whether you’re on your computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.

Setting Up a Digital Planner

While Paperless Home Organization gives readers step-by-step instructions for setting up a full home management binder, I’m more of a simple planner type. I do have a recipe binder that could go digital, but I usually prefer a physical recipe when I’m in the kitchen. (That may change if I ever get a tablet.)

That being said, I’ve found that I function much better when I have a planner with a calendar to write out what’s due when and space for a to-do list. Paperless Home Organization gives me all that – on my computer and my phone! It’s better than my paper planner because I always have my phone handy, even when I don’t have my paper planner or am away from my laptop. With mobile apps for each of the three web-based applications, I can add ideas, appointments, and to-do’s whenever I need to.

Following the step-by-step instructions, I was easily able to move everything – including my daily to-do lists – from my paper planner to my digital planner. I now have my blogging calendar, family appointments and activities, birthdays (with reminders so I don’t forget to send cards), and social media management commitments available on both my laptop and my phone.

The great thing is, Mystie shows readers how to set everything up in a manageable way. So, I can have my to-do list and reminders without constantly being bombarded with emails.

Because everything is laid out for me with the curriculum we use, I haven’t really needed a homeschool binder for the last year and a half. However, those who piece together their own curriculum or have to turn in portfolios to meet their state’s homeschooling requirements are probably going to love Mystie’s tips for creating a digital homeschool binder.

Whether you need a full-scale home management system or just a basic planner-and-to-do-list system, I feel confident in saying that you will pick up some tips you can use from Paperless Home Organization, if not overhaul your entire current system.

Check out Paperless Home Organization. Wouldn’t it be nice to start off your school year with an easy-to-use organization system in place?

  1. Thanks so much for sharing this! I am continually looking for things that will help me get better organized in ways that I /can/ implement. We have a very small budget compared to most so whatever I want to organize has to be done as cheaply as possible, but it also needs to be effective. Sounds like this will fit the bill. 🙂 Thanks again!

    1. I think you will love this system! I was just emailing the author to let her know the review was published…and gushing over how much I love this system.

  2. Thank you so much, Kris! Writing out all the steps and instructions helped me kick myself into gear to get my own system up and going consistently. 🙂 My little handheld device is only an iPod Touch with wifi — no data plan — and it still is so handy to be able to have what used to fill a big binder right in my pocket!

  3. Thank you! I was determined to find a way to get myself better organized and hopefully in a paperless format before our new homeschool year starts…this will be a huge help!

  4. Thanks Kris – I’m about to download it after reading the free sample. I’ve recently “discovered” Evernote (thanks to the iBlog e-book) and Mystie’s book looks like just what I was looking for to help me make the most of it.
