Summer often means more free time and a less structured routine. (Two of my favorite things!) While that’s often great at first, after a couple of weeks, your kids, like mine, may be starting to look for fun ideas to fill that extra time. That’s why this giveaway from the folks at See the Light is coming along at the perfect time!

See the Light offers a whole slew of instructional art DVDs. They’ve got:

  • Art Class – A 9-volume set that covers the fundamentals of art.
  • Art Projects – A second 9-volume DVD which guides students through creating works of art based on the style of 9 famous artists. This set contains enough material to use as a high school fine arts class.
  • Bible Stories – a 5-disc DVD set featuring hands-on art lessons that complement the accompanying Bible story

They also have a super-fun, stand-alone cartooning DVD, which we have enjoyed before.

The Cartooning DVD makes a great summer fun project because it’s a stand-alone DVD that most kids should be able to complete on their own – but it’s fun to get the whole family involved, too! You probably have everything on hand needed to work through the DVD, too. All you need is:

  • Several sheets of plain white paper (any size)
  • A #2 pencil
  • A pencil sharpener
  • Good white or gray kneaded eraser
  • A fine point black marker
  • A thick black permanent marker

In addition to covering the fundamentals of cartooning, the DVD also discusses:

  • The history of cartooning
  • The art elements of line, shape, and space
  • The art concepts of exaggeration and movement

If you’d like to win the Cartooning DVD from See the Light, just follow the directions on the RaffleCopter widget below to enter.

  1. My unlucky kids don’t really get a break from school, but they enjoy the nicer weather of summer.

  2. My kids are still young, so they like extra time to play (either outside or with play Mobil, calico critters, Lego, dolls inside). We love See the Light and have done the Bible story lessons for Easter and Christmas.

  3. What my daughters love most about summer break is literally the warmth of the season. Two of them, of course, also like the fact that there is no schooling. One of them chooses to school in the summer. But all of them agree that the warm summer sun shining down on them after a brutal winter is the closest thing to Heaven on earth. 🙂

  4. Sleeping in, going swimming at out local pool, going camping, going on road trips, making smores, etc.

  5. My kids enjoy the break from school and our more relaxed schedule, which includes staying up later and sleeping in.

  6. We do more field trips and attend the local slow food chapter’s farm tour (6 farms in one day….feeding chickens, cows, pigs).

  7. My kids arr super excited for our mini getaways this summer, a weekend in Wisconsin with family, 5 days at the beach in Delaware, and a Christian music festival at Darien Lake.

  8. Our favorite summer activity is small vacations. This year we are going to the lake and we went to the Huntsville Space & Rocket Center already. Also we like summer reading programs.

  9. Two like to sleep. One wants to explore. Everyone likes extra screen time, and two (not the same two) like to go to the pool. Everyone enjoys more time to do activities and play with friends! (Even Mom!)

  10. I missed the deadline to get my girl into our local high school art lessons. I would love to win the See The Light program.
Art, Math, Swimming and Softball are our usual summer fun times. 🙂

  11. We love cartooning and would love to hone our skills! Thank you so much for offering this wonderful giveaway!

  12. We spend a lot of time swimming, but it is too hot to spend much time outside. I would love to have an art DVD to pop in when the whether is oppressive.

  13. My son loves to go to the pool in the summer. His little sister just loves to do whatever he is doing. 🙂

  14. We enjoy sleeping in, swimming, fishing, and relaxing. We will be doing some summer school as well. 🙂

  15. My kids love extended time playing outside… until it gets too hot of course. 😉

  16. We love more relaxed days and doing special project that we didn’t have time for during the school year.

  17. Unfortunately, what my kids like best about summer vacation is a more relaxed, less-cranky mom! 🙂

  18. Our all time favorite summer activity is VBS! Can’t beat a week of learning about God with your friends!

  19. We’re taking it easy this summer until we start back the first week of August. We’ve got vacation, VBS, and a week of music camp to keep us busy, as well as plenty of trips to the water park in our town and to the library to take care of any boredom that might pop up. 🙂

  20. My kids like having more free time to pursue their interests – and my son’s favorite interest is cartooning so he would LOVE this DVD set. 🙂

  21. We do school year round with breaks here and there. So, my kids enjoy the small breaks we do take in the summer and spend most of their time in a pool or unfortunately watching way too many Andy Griffith shows or playing games on a kindle fire I just recently bought. The game playing is new for us so I am working to keep that under control. My son, I think, would enjoy the cartoon drawing. Thanks for giving us a chance to win.
