Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve all had an amazing week. I know that the last part of mine is going to be great, because I am at a retreat house with friends.

I hardly ever travel, but this is my second trip in the last month. This one is much more low-key than my trip to the Homeschool Moms’ Winter Summit. It’s just a few friends hanging out sewing, scrapbooking, and blogging. I bet you can’t guess which one I’m doing.

My poor Weekly Wrap-Ups have become so boring now that that kids are doing workbooks and working independently. I mean, I know y’all don’t want to hear, “So, my kids sat in their rooms/at the dining room table and did their workbooks.”

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much what it’s like. This week was a teeny bit different. First, we took Monday off because you shouldn’t have to do school on a day that only happens once every 4 years.

It wasn’t just that, though. The kids had a weekend mission activity at the church, so they were gone from Friday night until Sunday morning doing community service work and attending worship services. I knew they’d benefit from a day to recuperate.

In addition to that, Josh is sick again. He just can’t seem to shake this cold or whatever it is. It will seem like it’s almost gone, then he’s all congested and coughing again. The poor kid will probably get over it about the time everything starts blooming this spring.

Since we took off Monday and I was going to be away from home today, I knew it would be difficult for them to get all their workbook stuff done this week. So, I gave Josh and Megan the option to either do their regular workbooks or do a research project instead.

Believe it or not, Megan chose her workbooks. Josh chose research, though. I’ll watch his presentation when I get home – something about car engines and such.

So, my main goal for this weekend is catching up on online work because I feel like I’ve barely kept my head above water lately. However, I also brought a book (Silenced) and the supplies for putting together a prayer journal, so I plan to spend some time on more recreational and creative pursuits, too.

    1. Thanks, Claire. I’m having a blast. I was going to leave a comment on your post, but I can’t remember my password to sign in for comments and my password list is at home. I love the art projects your kids did and congrats to T on his test scores!

  1. Your weekly wrap ups are never boring! As a mom with little ones now, I get inspired to not only savor this one on one time with my kids but am reminded that there will be a season to have more time to myself.

Looking forward to hearing more about the bible journaling! I’ve tried a few but I am not creative to doodle on my own. I just downloaded the free Eph one to try.

    1. I have had the same cold type of thing as your son; I get so stuffed up and then it seems like I’m getting better and feel great for a week or two before I started getting all stuffed up again. It’s very annoying! I hope he’s feeling better for good in no time. Enjoy your weekend away! I would love a scrapbooking weekend with friends. Maybe I’d finally get caught up… but probably not.

      1. I hope you’re feeling better soon. It’s miserable to be sick like that and not be able to get over it.
