Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! Can you believe Christmas is only two weeks away? Are you ready? I’m getting there. I think the UPS man and I are on a first-name basis now. He may hate me after yesterday, though. Oh, well. I can live with that if it means avoiding mall crowds.

Speaking of the mall. I was dragged there, mostly against my will, by two teenage girls again this week. They owe me. Big time. It was pretty cool, though. One of their friends published a book and was having a book signing.

Goofy Cat

This goofy cat lays like this all. the. time.

It was actually the culmination of some kind of writing class she took and there were 10 or so local teen authors at the event. Megan is supposed to be finding out more about it from her friend because, seriously, how cool is that? Megan is always writing (as long as its not related to school), so she would be very interested in that.

Plus, the mall wasn’t so bad. There was Chick-fil-A tea and I got some Christmas shopping done for things not available on Amazon. Win-win.

In other news, I gave birth to a son 16 years ago yesterday. Yes, Josh celebrated his 16th birthday yesterday. That saying “the days are long, but the years are short” is oh so true. He’ll be driving before long. I am so not ready for that.

I am so proud of the man he is becoming. He’s a godly man, a good friend, dependable, courteous, and kind. God has gifted him with an incredible musical talent and he’s pretty darn handsome, too.

Birthday Collage

It was really has been a week-long celebration. Since we’re out of school and so are a couple of his homeschooled friends, there has been this house-hopping, sleepover thing going on since last Friday, with only a couple of days off for rest in between. He and his friends landed here yesterday, of course.

We had a small celebration here last night with his two friends, his sisters, and Brian and I. Then, we had pizza and cake at my sister’s house with my mom, my aunt, and a bunch of cousins. Then, this afternoon, friends of the female gender will be coming over for pizza, movies, and video games. Fun stuff, y’all!

Gus

This is my big, old pretty boy. It’s getting hard to tell him and Jack apart, isn’t it?

I think we’ve got a fairly low-key weekend on tap. If you’re an email subscriber, you can probably be looking for some changes in your inbox next week, since I think I finally have everything in place to tackle the move to a new newsletter service that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been playing around with it, so I don’t think you’ll notice anything too crazy. If so, please let me know.

And elsewhere on the Internet, I’ve shared:

  1. Sixteen?! Oh my gosh….where does the time go? T is fourteen soon, yet I can remember giving birth to him with a clarity suggesting it was only yesterday, not 14 years ago. Please wish him a happy birthday!

  2. Hard to believe Josh is 16 already (I remember way back when he wasn’t even really a tween on your blog), but happy slightly belated birthday to him!

Is it me, or does a cat sleeping comfortably like that always result in the urge to tickle their toes or “wudge” their belly?

    1. I think it would be physically impossible for me to walk by that cat and not rub his belly when he’s lying like that. 🙂
