Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday! This week’s wrap-up is going to be short and sweet because I’m getting ready to go do something fun and exciting with my husband.

Our final week of school for 2013 flew by in a flurry of activity as we wrapped up loose ends. I think the favorite part of the school week for all of us was the Alan Sheppard biography. Tell me I’m not the only sappy mom who cries at the end of nearly every biography when the person dies. I mean, it’s not like I don’t know it’s going to happen.

When we got to the part about the first landing on the moon – which Alan had to watch from mission control – I could have read the words myself, but, for one thing, I knew I’d probably choke up. We’ve already established that I’m sappy.

Beyond that, though, I thought it would be really cool for the kids to hear the words as they were spoken by Neil Armstrong. So, I looked up a video of the footage on YouTube and we watched. I love when the kids think history is as awesome as I think it is.

The cat who doesn’t live here is still here. He’s been here a week now has decided that he pretty much owns the place. I guess it’s time for us to put up signs and see if he belongs to anyone. If we’re going to claim him, he needs to be neutered and have shots.

There won’t be a Weekly Wrap-Up next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday – or, you know, Thursday, if you don’t live in the U.S. So, save up your great stories and photos and we’ll have fun catching up the following week.

  1. Yep, pretty much cry at every sappy ending and can’t continue reading out loud….I’d like to chalk it up to appreciating life experiences, but probably just a low threshold ! Have a lovely Thanksgiving. I love reading here. Thank you for posting.

  2. Thank you for the link-up! I’ve seen all kinds of link-ups but never tried doing it before. I wrote a wrap-up and hope I linked everything correctly! I could become addicted to this…

  3. One of the books from last year’s curriculum made me cry almost Every.Single.Time. Annoying.

This year, I’m doing okay, but just yesterday, we finished Star of Light, and yup, I cried some more (this was the culmination of about 4 days worth of tear jerker chapters).

We start a new book this week, and I’m hoping it’s a little easier on me! We are also listening to an audio book together, and I have to say, I really like that option.
