Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week. It’s been a little hectic here, but good overall.

I’ve been working on getting my running back on track this week after slacking too much the last couple of months. A friend and I have decided to start training for another half-marathon – her second, my third – at the end of February, so it’s time to get serious and start ramping up the miles.

I’ve also been working on getting my eating and weight-loss back on track. I was happy where I was for awhile, though I had never quite reached my ultimate 95 pound loss goal. However, I’ve gained a little over the last few months. Not a whole lot, but enough that I’m ready to rein it back in and get back to my personal happy weight.

To that end, I bought myself the new Fitbit One. I used the bodybugg (similar to the Body Media device) with great success at the beginning of my weight-loss, but it’s kind of big and bulky for my needs right now. The Fitbit offers the same general features – minus the precise accuracy, but all I need for now is ballpark – in a much smaller size.

I’m really loving it, so far! I really didn’t think I was such an external rewards kind of person, but I actually find those silly little badges that you can earn for steps walked and stairs climbed strangely rewarding. Plus, I love that you can set it to automatically sync with My Fitness Pal.

OCC drop off boxes

In other news, we dropped off our Operation Christmas Child boxes on Wednesday. We really enjoyed packing them this year. It’s not too late if you want to pack one! You’ve got until Monday (November 19) to drop them off. I’ve posted before on some simple packing tips for Operation Christmas Child as well as ideas for what to put in the shoeboxes.

There won’t be a Weekly Wrap-Up next week. I figured everyone would be too busy Black Friday shopping, leftover eating, and relative visiting to worry about posting about their week. The Wrap-Up will be back on Friday, November 30.

I’ve got a special, exciting post coming for you Monday, then you probably won’t hear from me the rest of the week. I’ll be enjoying the holiday week with my family and spending as little time online as possible. So, if I don’t get another chance to tell you, Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. It’s so much easier to do hard things when you’ve got someone to do them with. Yay for supportive friends!! Have a lovely thanksgiving and a great time away. Thanks for hosting!

  2. Wow, good luck on your third half marathon. I just did my first this past Sunday–what a rush when you finish! Glad to back off the miles for a bit, but ooking to try again next year.

  3. Hey, we’re hosting a shoebox party right now! The girls had such a great time!

Yes, maintenance is important when it comes to weight. People always tell me I have nothing to worry about…and that’s true, I don’t worry. But I always keep a bit of an eye on my size and never let it get out of hand.

Go for it, and don’t give up your hard-won fitness!

  4. Great job on getting back on track. It’s so hard when there is a lot of tempting/yummy food out there. Especially when you have children!
    Anyway – Happy Thanksgiving.
    Thanks for all you do.
    Hugs & Blessings,
    Emily
