Weekly Wrap-Up

Are you an early riser who was wondering where this week’s Weekly Wrap-Up was? You know what? I forgot about it. Completely forgot. I remembered just after I crawled in bed way past my bedtime last night, but I was too tired to care at that point. So, here is this week’s wrap-up…you know, the late version.

As I said, it’s been a very busy week. I’m so glad we take off the month of December. I can’t imagine if I’d been trying to get school done amongst all the other stuff that’s gone on this week. Looking back, I can’t quite recall why it’s been so busy, but it has.

Monday was grocery shopping since last week was so busy with Thanksgiving festivities. I thought I was being smart by going in the middle of the day on a weekday, but, no, it was still crowded at the store. Well, honestly, it was crowded when I got there, but by the time I checked out it wasn’t bad at all, so I guess my idea wasn’t a total bust.

My sister is expecting. I’m pretty sure I haven’t mentioned that on my blog since I don’t like to tell other people’s business. However, it’ time to tell it because I’m excited and she’s due any time now! {grin}

She’s actually due at the end of the month, but we’re thinking it’s going to be sooner. My niece, who also does gymnastics, rode with us to practice this week because my sister went to the hospital on a possible labor run. She was sent home, but now we’re all anxiously waiting…especially my sister. You know, the one who’s actually having to deal with all the pre-labor stuff.

The next biggest bit of excitement occurred Wednesday. I went to lunch with a dear friend, which is always nice. I love that my kids are old enough now that I can sneak away for lunch with a friend from time to time.

In the course of the conversation, somehow One Direction tickets came up. For those who may not have teen girls, One Direction is something like today’s version of The Beatles. These kids are selling out concerts in gigantic football arenas around the world. It’s crazy. And, my baby wants tickets. She’s talked of nothing else for weeks.

They go on sale Saturday, but Megan had mentioned some Facebook presale thing. Now, I’m one of those people who tends to be very skeptical of things like that. However, at lunch my friend mentioned that her daughter had already gotten her tickets – through the Facebook presale thing! So, she gave me the details and, since I knew it was legitimate, I came home and took my laptop and my credit card to my room and locked the door.

Half an hour or so later, I had tickets! Unfortunately, Brian wasn’t home and I had to take Josh to his drum lesson, so I had to wait about an hour to tell Megan. I briefly thought about faking her out and telling her on Saturday that I wasn’t able to get tickets so that I could give them to her for Christmas, but I couldn’t do it. I knew she would be so disappointed and besides, I’m not a good liar.

Um, yeah. She was so excited she was shaking. I thought we might get a few tears, but she tells me she’s not a crier. I will probably be nominated for the Mom of the Year award. Now, our biggest concern (“our” being “all of us except Megan”) is how we’re going to make it until next October listening to Megan talk constantly about this concert.  {grin}

Yesterday, we had a surprise baby shower for my sister. All of us had been pretty concerned about said baby shower on Monday when my sister went to the hospital, but she made it and a good time was had by all. Brianna knitted an adorable little hat for the baby and finished a blanket she’s been knitting on forever.

I got a baby jumper for when the baby is a bit older. It’s what I’ve wanted to get as soon as I found out my sister was expected because I work in the infant room in the nursery at church and, as soon as they can hold themselves up, the bouncer is what all the babies love. Even the fussy babies are happy in the bouncer.

Okay, I’m probably rambling now and I’ve got no photos because it’s been that kind of week. So, I’ll quit talking and get this thing posted so y’all can link up.

  1. How exciting about the imminent arrival of your new niece or nephew! I hope all goes smoothly for your sister.
    And yay – definitely mom of the year for you with the concert tickets! I can’t believe they go on sale this much in advance!! Thanks for hosting – have a wonderful weekend. 🙂

  2. I seem to have linked up twice….only I’m not sure where I linked to the first time. Sigh…I take scatty to a whole new level.
    Wish your sister the very best from me. I hope all goes well (and quickly!). Have a great weekend.

    1. You make me smile. 🙂 I’ll tell my sister that a sweet friend on another continent is wishing her well.

  3. I hope everything goes well with your sister. I know what it’s like to be sent home. I have a n almost seven month old and was sent home at 6 cm. I walked around like that, with ten other kids in the house, for FOUR DAYS!

    1. I won’t tell my sister that four days part. 🙂 She’s really hoping it’s soon, but I’m hoping she’ll at least wait until Monday since my brother-in-law (her husband) is out of town this weekend. I know he’d hate to miss the birth, though I’m not sure my sister cares one way or the other at this point. {grin}

  4. Congrats on the new niece or nephew arriving any day now! And WTG on getting the 1D tickets – that should put you in the running for Mom of the Year! 😉
