Well, look at that. We’re all still here. I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t eat that whole pan of magic cookie bars myself on the off chance that the world would end and I wouldn’t have to work off the calories.

It’s been a busy week here, as I’m sure it has been for most of you. Brian was off work Monday, so the whole family went out for a day of Christmas shopping. We split up, though, so the kids could shop for each other. Josh and Megan found something that I think Brianna is going to love. I can’t wait to watch her open it!

After Monday, we stayed around the house the rest of the week, but there has been plenty to keep us busy.

Today has been an exercise in patience and/or persistence as I’ve struggled to keep the kittens out of my Christmas tree. As I told my friends on my personal Facebook page, it’s going much as I suspected. The good twin (Lily) is now following the lead of the evil twin (Luna) and they’re both climbing the tree!

Or, they were before I broke out my spray bottle. It appears that they enjoy a good squirt of water in the face as much as Gus used to…which is not at all. Gus never got on the table or the kitchen counters after spray bottle training.

Apparently it made Lily mad, though. She crawled under the couch and wouldn’t come out for awhile after I squirted her. That’s okay. I can live with that.

We’re looking forward to a Christmas party with friends this weekend. It’s an annual tradition that we’ve managed to keep for many years, despite the busyness of our lives and I’m so thankful. This is a group of three other families that we don’t see often enough, so I’m glad we’ve been able to preserve this time together.

We’ve also got dinners with family over the next several days. This is the part of Christmas I like – spending time with the people I love.

Because I’m sure we’ll all be busy over the next couple of weeks, this will be the last Weekly Wrap-Up until January 11. I’ll probably be posting off and on during that time, but if you’re busy enjoying live off-line, I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

  1. Sounds like you have your hands full with your two little kittens. They look so sweet though!

We are looking forward to three weeks off from formal schooling….wish the weather were better so we could actually do some things outside.

Thanks as always for the link-up.

  2. I can remember when my cats would terrorize the tree when I was young. They can be quite determined! Merry Christmas as you take some time off.

  3. I remember the water spray treatment fondly! Although it didn’t so much train our cats not to do something, as it it did to teach them not to do it when we were in the room!

One of them in particular was a quirky boy and when we made him angry in the living room with the spray bottle, he’d stalk off to the kitchen and knock a glass (always the blue ones, which he hated for some reason) onto the floor.

    1. Oh, that’s funny! Payback cat style. 😉 I used to leave the water bottle sitting on the table when I wasn’t in the room. That was all it took for Gus to stay off the table. Then, after a while, I didn’t even need the water bottle. I hope these kittens are as easy to train. We were spoiled with Gus.
