Weekly Wrap-Up

Are you having a wonderful Friday? I am! A few friends and I have escaped for a weekend retreat. It’s the same place we went last year and it’s just incredible – wonderful friends, delicious meals (that someone else cooks!), and nothing that we have to do. {sigh}

I need a relaxing weekend because it’s been an insane week. Did I mention that it was break week for us? Break week and it was crazy.

Monday Brian was off and we had some errands to run. Tuesday was supposed to be my full day at home alone – the grandparents were taking the kids to lunch – but Brian came home from work early not feeling well, so I took him to the doctor.

Then, Tuesday night, my mom called to say she was in the emergency room. Thankfully, she’s okay, but she has spent a couple of days in the hospital.

Wednesday, I had promised Brianna I would take her to some thrift stores. So, we did that. (I snagged some great jeans for a great price!) Then, we went to see my mom. It was late when we got home and I still had to wash clothes and pack to leave for my trip on Thursday.

It wasn’t the relaxing break week I had imagined. I guess I’m just glad that it was a break week. I don’t know how we would have done all that we needed to do this week and school, too.

I think I may need a break week to recover from my break week – or an independent study week. There’s plenty the kids can work on with little help from me. I would say I’d feel recovered after a relaxing weekend away, but I know I’ll still have to get stuff ready to start school on Sunday night and I’ll have to go grocery-shopping.

For now, though, I’m going to get back to enjoying my weekend with friends. I hope you have a wonderful weekend wherever you are.

  1. He, he! A break week to recover from your break week! I like that! I’m still thinking of doing a one week on, one week off home school schedule, or do you think that might be a wee bit lazy of me? I wonder if we could fit in all the school we needed to in just 21 weeks?

  2. Have a wonderful and fabulous weekend! And, yes, I highly recommend a week to recover from your break week. Sounds like everyone would benefit. Thanks for hosting and for all the encouragement you give us all week long.

  3. Seems like many homeschoolers are taking a week off this week! We’re just having a 4 day weekend! Enjoy your retreat! Come back rested and recharged!

  4. I’m glad you had a good week off, so did I! Another week off from homeschooling would be great, but just not possible. Thanks for hostessing the Weekly Wrap Up! Have a great weekend, Kris!

  5. I hope you’re enjoying your retreat. I’ve never done anything like that, but I’ve realized that I do need to try to make more time for my friends. Just not during harvest season! LOL

    I hope next week will be peaceful and healthy for you and your family.

  6. Hi Kris – your break week sounds busy! I sympathise – we’re just back from vacation in Turkey where my husband broke his ankle! So we spent the morning at the hospital yesterday following our return on Thursday.
    I’m also having a break away this weekend though with some girls from uni so I can’t complain 🙂
    I hope you’re having a great weekend too! Lucinda

    1. I think it’s because it doesn’t include a www. I looked at it, but I honestly have no idea how to work around that. I’m sorry!
