Why Homeschool Groups Are Important

O ver the last ten years that we’ve homeschooled, I’ve pointed out many times that I’m not sure I’d have made it through that first homeschooling year without my support group.

Ten years later, though, I’m not as active as I once was. I don’t go to many of the events, and I’m feeling guilty about that. You see, homeschool support groups are just as important for us veterans as they are for the newbies.

Wonder why? Head over to my post today at The Homeschool Classroom and I’ll tell you why homeschool groups are important – for veterans and newbies.

You bring up some good points in your previous post you linked to. Have been homeschooling for 17 years now and graduated 2 of our 4 children. Attended a lot more groups in the beginning, but now with a move to a new state (Florida from California) will probably check out new groups to connect and to become familiar with requirements as the laws in this state are different. While I’ve familiarized myself with them online,it is helpful to talk to those who’ve been a part of the system.
While I’m looking forward to these changes, it will be an adjustment as I’ve become quite used to my independence in homeschooling after all this time. Guess you’re never to old to learn and grow right? : )

Hi, this was a great article. I’m mid-way through my first year working my way through a pre-k curriculum with my almost 4 year old and am partnered with a good friend and her daughter. We meet once a week to do projects together from the curriculum. I’d love to find a support group for trips/holidays, etc. How do you suggest we find a support group?
