Polished Cornerstones and For Instruction in Righteousness were two of the first Bible character training products I heard of when we first began homeschooling way back in the olden days, eleven years ago.

Thirty Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas and Because You Are Strong for boys 12 and up

Doorposts are a constant in the Christian homeschooling community. Their products are those whose reputation for quality have withstood the test of time.

The folks at Doorpost have introduced two new Bible study guides: Thirty Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas and Because You Are Strong: A Study of Godly Strength for Young Men (designed for boys age 12 and up).

Thirty Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas take a unique approach to Bible study. It’s designed for moms who may only have 5 or 10 minutes here or there. It spends the entire 30 days on one chapter – Colossians 3 – in an effort to demonstrate that lack of time doesn’t have to equal lack of depth where Bible study is concerned.

Using little snippets of time, you’ll dig into Colossians 3 doing activities that will help you:

  • Understand the context
  • Compare and contrast to understand meaning
  • Paraphrase to understand how the verse is applicable to you today

You’ll use tools and techniques such as:

  • Marking words and phrases in different ways to see patterns
  • Meditation and memorization
  • Comparing different translations
  • Using a concordance

Now that my kids are older, you’d think that I could handle longer Bible study times, but it still seems like the days get away from me faster than I can explain. There were times when that quick, five minute study was really an accomplishment.

It may be my ADD (okay, that’s a joke…I think…sometimes I think I’ve probably really got it), but I felt a little bogged down staying on the same chapter for 30 days. That being said, the study looked at a lot of different angles of the verse, so there was some variety in the study. If you’re a mom who did something like Five in a Row with your kids and loved it as much as they did, you’ll probably really enjoy Thirty Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas.

Because You Are Strong Bible study for boys

Doorposts’ other new Bible study product is Because You Are Strong: A Study of Godly Strength for Young Men. This Bible study is designed for boys ages 12 and up and is set up in a very familiar Bible study format. There are five lessons each week. Each day’s lesson contains a reading assignment with space to answer questions and/or journal thoughts with study helps and notes in the margins.

Boys will look at godly, Biblical strength through this 10-week study. They’ll learn to do things like:

  • Use a concordance
  • Understand a passage through word study
  • Use Bible study tools available online or on mobile devices
  • Outline the content of a passage
  • Complete a topical study

Now, I’m going to be completely honest with you – because I’m an honest sort: I haven’t had Josh work his way through this study yet. I was going to, but we typically do Bible study together as a family. I know him and if I have him do something the girls aren’t doing, he’s going to look at it as “unfair” or “extra work” and I never, ever want him to look at Bible study that way.

With that in mind, I decided to let him use the study guide this summer. With our crazy summer schedule, family Bible time is not as easily accomplished as it is during the school year, so I was thinking we might all pursue our own personal Bible study. That’s why I wanted to go ahead and share this resource with you now – in case you’d like to purchase the Bible study guide for your son to explore over the summer.

To that end, here’s a chance for you to pick up both Thirty Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas and Because You Are Strong: A Study of Godly Strength for Young Men. 1. Instruction in Righteousness is the doorposts book I have and am still using. I love their products and would love the devotions also. Thank you.

  1. I haven’t used any of their print/digital (?) products but I did follow along with the Colossians study when it was on the blog- and loved it. I also got in on the tail of the Psalm 37 study on the blog as well.

  2. I am always looking for a Bible study for myself that doesn’t require a lot of time. This looks perfect!! Thanks for the chance to win!

  3. I’m especially stoked about the boy’s devotional! Looks fantastic! 🙂 I’ve used Doorpost products for 20 years!

  4. I’ve never used Doorposts. Sounds like something I would love though. I’m signed up for the giveaway! 🙂

  5. Sounds like 2 good study guides. I have used their If-Then and Blessing charts with my kids. Thanks for blogging about these resources!

  6. I have used some of the charts, including the “Consider the Ant” chart. These devotions look great!

  7. I haven’t used Doorposts products yet. This would be a great opportunity to try them out!! Thanks and God Bless 🙂

  8. We have used the “put on chart” for our circle time a few years ago. The kids loved dressing the dolls and I loved that they were learning about the fruit of the spirit that we are to “put on.”

  9. I haven’t tried the Doorpost products, but I have heard a lot about them. The”If-Then” chart looks like a great way to help me be more consistent in my discipline, and I would be interested in going through the Prov 31 mother/daughter study when my girls are older.

  10. I have For Instructions in Righteousness, but to be honest I don’t use it as often as I should or would like. We have 9 kiddos and don’t always stop and think in the heat of the moment. I would like to try the busy Mom bible study and I think the Godly strengths one would be good for my 16 yo son.

  11. I haven’t used any Doorposts prodcuts but other parents were just talking about them at our Bible study last week and I’m interested.

  12. I wanna live in America!! (throwing myself on floor in a tantrum to rival my two year olds- no not really, after all I’m an ADULT, and I need to at least pretend I possess a modicum of SELF CONTROL!)
We love door posts and will definitely be checking out the new devotional for the boys, thanks for the review.

  13. I have used Polished Cornerstones, For Instructions in Righteousness, If/Then chart, and the Blessings chart. We love Doorposts!

  14. Oh what a wonderful chance to own either of these two books. We have used Doorposts products in the past. I just love their products and ministry. I have a 15 year old son, who could definitely use the one study.

And last night, our 5 month Woman’s group finished up with a lesson in…….you guessed it Colossians 3. I love to delve deep into the scriptures and welcome the chance to dig deep into that book. Thanks for the opportunity.

  15. I love the parenting resources! The charts are awesome. We have the laminated / colorful one. Just the right size!

  16. These would be so cool. I definitely struggle with finding enough time to read and study my Bible because I feel like I have to do “enough” every day. I know this is the wrong way to think about it but I would love to learn a new way of thinking.

  17. I thank God for Doorposts. I have used them for years….I have 7 children….2 are grown & no longer live at home. I started using Doorposts when they were young. I bought “Instructions for Righteousness” and it has been such a useful tool that I still use. My husband and I used the “Checklist for Parents” so we could see where we were as parents and was quite eye-opening. I have the Watch Words still hanging on my walls today. Because I only had boys at the time, I bought “Plants Grown Up” which we used as part of our homeschooling curriculum as well as daily devotions. When God gave us girls, we bought “Polished Cornerstones” which we use the same as we used Plant’s Grown Up. As our family has grown, we have continued to use Doorposts. The “If-Then” chart and the “Blessing” chart has helped us be consistent with discipline or praise and the children know the rewards for good as well as bad behavior. The “Brother Offended” chart helps us tremendously with all of the tattle-tale-ling. We use the “Go To The Ant” chart with our Chore chart (Services Opportunities) to help motivate the kids to do their chores and to be diligent & cheerful in doing them.
As a busy mom, I would love to use their Bible study. I know the more children we have, the less time I seem to have for the Lord…and I need to turn that around. When I do my devotions…cleaning…homeschooling…cooking..chauffeuring…etc…I sometimes find myself exhausted. Maybe this is the tool I need. 🙂

  18. more like what we haven’t used, the craft kits, but did have one one time, but love their products

  19. I love, love, love Doorposts! We lost everything in a fire 5 years ago and one of the very first things I replaced was Plants Grown Up and Polished Cornerstones! The materials in this giveaway sound fantastic!

  20. I LOVE Doorposts! I have used For Instruction in Righteousness, Love how it is so orderly! Pick an offence and look it up. There you will find all your answers from the Scriptures!

  21. I know we’ve used a few Doorposts products…. For Instruction in Righteousness, Write Them on the Doorposts (some SUPER ideas in there), the If-Then Chart….

  22. I haven’t used any Doorposts products yet, but have heard so many great things about them and would like to find something this next schoolyear that will work for our family.

  23. I am so glad Doorpost posted about this giveaway! Your blog looks like something I will really enjoy. 🙂

  24. We are using the If-Then Chart. It has really streamlined discipline in our household. My husband and I no longer disagree about punishments for specific activities. We are really getting through to our children (4, 2) that we are the parents, they need to listen, God wants them to listen, and that we love them :)!

  25. I use For Instruction in Righteousness and also bought a pack of charts that have come in handy: Brother Offended, If-Then, Go to the Ant, Blessing Chart, and the Put-On Chart. They have sooo many things I would love to use if money weren’t an issue!

  26. I love Doorposts. I think I used For Instruction in Righteousness the most but also used Polished Cornerstones a lot.

  27. I love Doorpost stuff! Pam has such a way of digging deeply into Scripture and I would love to do that through her Bible study. I just discovered your blog and am enjoying looking around. Keep up the good work.

  28. I have yet to try any Doorpost products. I only recently discovered them. I want to savor each and every parenting boys resources they sell.

  29. “Instructions for Righteousness is the only thing I have used would like to tryst he Bible study! Those 5-10 min during the day seem easier than 30 min to an hour. Sad I don’t make more time for my Lord….

  30. I haven’t enjoyed any of Doorpost’s products, but I have a 17 year old brother who is on fire for God and deep into athletics. I definitely see me getting him “Because You Are Strong” as a gift. This morning we were studying together and I gave him a crash course in using his concordance and the SOAP method of study. I love that the study helps him sharpen his bible study skills!

  31. I have not used Doorpost product before. Haven’t even heard of them. Looking at the pictures you showed and the write up you have given, I am really interested in them both. Always looking for new bible studies.

  32. Love, love, LOVE Doorpost. I have their Instructions in Righteousness manual as well as their If/Then Chart – both of which I use alot!! LOVE Doorpost. Thanks for showing these new products!
