I have discovered the absolute best recipe! We call them calzones and they’re a favorite with everyone except Josh. Somebody always has to be the trouble maker. 😉

I use the same basic principal that I do with the pizza rolls that are such a hit. The difference is the filling. And what a difference it is! It’s a recipe adapted from one that our former pastor’s wife shared with me.

You’ll need:

1 package of ham (the lunch meat packages)

1 package of turkey

1 package of pepperoni

Italian dressing

Ranch dressing

Cheddar and mozzarella cheeses

Your choice of seasonings (I use Accent, onion salt, garlic salt and oregano)

Melted butter

Spaghetti sauce.

Dice the turkey and ham. Heat enough Italian dressing to saute the ham, turkey and pepperoni. As the meat is cooking, season with Accent, onion salt and garlic. Then, set aside. Roll out the refrigerated pizza dough and top one half with the meat mixture, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, and Ranch dressing.

Fold over the other half of the dough and press to seal the edges. Then, brush with melted butter and season with garlic salt and oregano. Bake at the temperature indicated on pizza dough package, though you’ll probably have to add additional time. Bake until browned.

Slice width-wise with a pizza cutter and serve with spaghetti sauce for dipping.

Yum! And, it’s even better the next day.
