Happy Friday! This Friday is extra exciting for a couple of reasons. One, we’re taking off next week!! Two, my husband and I are going on a date tonight and I get to see Breaking Dawn…again!

Yes, again. Brianna and I went to the midnight premiere last night. I loved it! The really cool thing was that it ended just exactly like I had it pictured in my mind.

I think I’ve decided what I like so much about going to the midnight premiere – the theater is full of people who’ve read all the books and seen all the movies so they get it. They even get the little things that people who haven’t read the books might miss. It’s fun.

My sister won me two tickets to what we thought was the midnight premiere, but it turned out that they were for tonight. So, since Brian had to work this morning, we decided that Brianna and I would go to the premiere and Brian and I would have a date night and go to the show tonight. Works for me!

Okay, so, school stuff. It was a pretty average ordinary week here. It has come to my attention that it’s time to revamp and tweak in some areas – namely language arts and history. What we’re doing for languages arts is good (Easy Grammar, All About Spelling, and reading books that the kids select), but we’re not doing enough of some of the other aspects of language arts.

History is another area that I need to work on. I love the core that All-American History is providing, but I have really slacked off on the historical fiction and biography read-alouds that are so important to me. I need to pull those back in and work on getting things a little more hands-on.

I’m really thankful for a week off so that I can have a chance to do some planning and regrouping. I think much of the major tweaking and revamping planning will take place over our Christmas break, but I’m hoping to work on implementing a few changes after Thanksgiving.

Oh, speaking of the 10 Days of series, if you missed mine, I posted on 10 Days of Homeschooling High School.

Hey, look at that. I talked about school stuff more than I thought I would.

  1. How awesome are you! Look at you run! So proud of you Kris.

I hope you have a great week off and get in lots of time for fun around your planning time. It is definitely that time of year where we are all thinking and accessing. Thanks for hosting the wrap-up.

  2. Thanks, Barb!

Um, yeah, about that planning time. Those are my good intentions. I checked out five books from the library yesterday, though. Ahem.

  3. Great job on completing the half-marathon, that's awesome!  Enjoy your week off and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. I think I'm constantly revamping a little as we go. And these breaks are the perfect time to figure exactly WHAT to tweak.

Still think it's SO awesome that you did this half-marathon!!!

  5. You amaze me with your running. Great job! (though it makes my knees ache to think about it 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

  6. CONGRATS on the race!! You're doing so good! Of course, you know that : ) It's been very encouraging watching you through this : ) Keep up the great work.
We are taking the next week off as well and I have to get some planning done also 🙂

  7. Congratulations on your run!  I have a lot of admiration for those who run.  I wouldn't run if I was being chased.

I am new to your blog, new as of yesterday.  I have been here before but only for a moment.  I don't think I was ready.  Yesterday I read many of your posts and felt a lot better about our decisions and choices.  Thanks!!!!  It is always good to know that we are not alone in this and some have better words for our thoughts.

  8. I would have said the same thing about running 88 pounds and/or 10 months ago. I love it now, though, and couldn't imagine not running.

I'm glad to know that you found some reassurance on my blog. Homeschooling can be overwhelming, at first, and the doubts continue to pop up from time to. It's nice to know you're not alone.
