Sweet Shot Tuesday: Wheelbarrow
I have never, ever participated in any of the photography memes because, well, I found my point-and-shoot rather uninspiring. Now that I’m the proud new owner of a fancy-schmancy camera, though, I can’t wait to get started – which is why I’m posting my Sweet Shot Tuesday photo at 1 AM on Wednesday.
Now, I’m just getting started with this whole photography thing, so don’t think just because I post a photo, I think it’s phenomenal or anything. This one, though, really excited me because it turned out almost exactly as I had envisioned, except that I had to cut the wheelbarrow off a little to try to get the stupid orange cones out of the photo.
My favorite thing about this photo, other than the whole “turning out almost like I’d envisioned it” thing, was the attitude that went with it. See, we’d driven past this rest stop several times over the last few days and every time we drove by I thought about what a cool picture that old wheelbarrow would make with those beautiful flowers for a backdrop. And, I kept thinking about how I should stop and make some pictures. And, I kept thinking about all the people driving by wondering what this crazy lady was doing out taking pictures of an old wheelbarrow.
And, then, I thought, “I’m 40 years old. How many times have I not done something because I was so worried or intimidated about what other people might think? Who cares what people think about me taking some pictures. The truth is, they probably don’t care. Most of the people driving by are probably too busy worried about what they’re going to make for dinner to even notice somebody on the side of the road taking pictures.”
So, I stopped and made pictures. I got some good ones, too.
As you said, people don't care, they're thinking about themselves.
Nice shot !
It turned out great! And hurray for you for getting out there and doing it! 🙂
Nice angle
Good for you! And you're right – who cares what everyone else is thinking. If anything, they're probably wishing they had stopped to take a picture.
…and I love the picture! See, I would have never even noticed the wheelbarrow. You have a keen eye for a great shot!
