Weekly Weigh-In

Despite my best intentions, I obviously am not doing a great job of keeping up with much of anything around here, other than the Weekly Weigh-In posts.  I’m totally blaming it on our summer schedule…or lack thereof.  Yes, we have lots more free time, but our structure is gone.  While I’m enjoying the carefree days, I confess that I do miss the structure of the school year and the rhythm that it provides to my days.  Even my exercise routine is suffering, and I thought I’d have lots more time to workout while we were on summer break.

My weight-loss was definitely better this week than last, but not as good as it has been up until this month.  I’m not sure if that’s due to my workout schedule being a bit off or if it’s just the natural slow down of weight loss as I get closer to my goal.  Either way, this week’s loss was 1.2 lbs.  I’ll take it!

I’ve seriously been considering changing my weigh-in day to Friday.  I don’t workout consistently on the weekends and I tend to consume more calories than I do during the week — it’s that whole lack of structure thing again.  If I changed my weigh-in day to Friday, it would be at the end of a week of consistent workouts and calorie counting, rather than after coming off two days of less structure, as it is now with it being on Monday.  I know that’s all psychological, but the fact is, a big part of losing weight is the phsychological aspect.  I think I’ll see how I do this week and decide on Friday.

Finally, it’s official!  I’m at the half-way point of my weight-loss journey, as far as the time frame I was looking at.  I wanted to be halfway to 95 lbs. by the time Eclipse premiered.  It premieres at midnight tonight and I’m at 55 lbs. lost — five pounds more than I was shooting for!  I’m very excited and pleased with my results.

I had said I was going to post a photo of myself with the Twilight Moms shirt I wanted, but I wound up not ordering a shirt.  I was really hoping they’d come out with an Eclipse-themed shirt since they had a Twilight-themed shirt and a New Moon-themed shirt.  They didn’t come out with a new one and I just decided that I didn’t want an “old” one.  That’s okay, though, I have a cute outfit lined up to wear — in a size medium shirt and a size 12 Capri pants!  That’s a whole lot better than the size 2X shirt and 20 pants I was wearing when I started.

My next goal is to be down to my goal weight of 125 lbs. by Thanksgiving this year, a full year from when I started last Thanksgiving week.  I can’t wait to see how I do.

So, what about you?  Have you weighed in this week?

  1. CONGRATS!!! I think it would be fine to change your weigh-in day. Although, I could see myself becoming even less focused on the weekend if I knew I had 5 days to "make up" for it. You have to know yourself and how you tick!

  2. Yeah, dropped just .7# but I'll take it. I'm being successful in seeing this journey as a lifestyle change and am committed to living it with style!

I'm with you 100% on the structure thing. I was laid off last August, and decided to take some time before going back to anything…and of course I thought I'd have all this time to work out! As much as I hate to admit it, structure is a necessary thing, at least a little anyway!

  3. Are you gonna post pics of your Eclipse outfit? Did you go see it yet? Congrats on the weigh-in.

  4. Yay for you! You're an inspiration to me! I'm so happy for you. What an accomplishment. I would love to do the same thing. I battle chronic autoimmune diseases, including thyroid, which causes me to gain weight and makes it very difficult to lose. Add to that the fact that I just had my third baby 10 months ago (second c-section), and I really need to get in shape. Anyway, I've been reading your blog for motivation. Thanks for sharing your journey!

BTW, I think I would change my weigh-in day just so I wouldn't have it hanging over my head all weekend. Like you said, so much of it is psychological, too!
