Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! For those of you in Texas, you’ve been in my thoughts and prayers this week and will continue to be in the days and weeks to come. I pray that you’re all safe. Like the rest of the country, I’ve been watching in disbelief.

It’s been a good week in our little part of the world. We’ve eased back into our school routine pretty smoothly. Of course, next week is the big test when we get up to basically a full course load. There may be weeping and gnashing of teeth. {grin}

So, Josh and Megan upgraded their phones before we went on vacation last month. I have always been an Android girl, but I confess to being completely jealous of the camera on the iPhone 7 Plus.

So, after years of being an Android user, on Wednesday, I poured myself a big cup of the iPhone Kool-Aid. Y’all! I loved my Android but the apps on the iPhone are fancy-schmancy! Wow!

A lot of them weren’t too different, but our local weather app? Sheesh! Android users don’t know what they’re missing. And Duolingo has some nifty features and extra word categories that Android doesn’t have.

With the exception of one app/feature that I can’t find an iPhone alternative for, I’m really excited about the switch.

Last Friday, Megan’s BFF and family invited us to join them at the Tennessee Aquarium. It’s been years since I’ve been. We were fortunate enough to wind up at the otter exhibit just as they were doing some enrichment activities with their…I’m not sure what they’re called. Trainers? Caretakers?

At any rate, the otters are absolutely adorable and we loved watching them.

We arrived at the penguin exhibit just in time to see the trainers/caretakers/whatever they’re called doing some enrichment activities, too. They were also pretty fascinated by our keys.

We enjoying touching the stingrays, but my absolute favorite part is the butterfly garden. I wish Brianna had been able to go. She and I could stay in the garden for hours watching the butterflies.

Those are the highlights of another blissfully mundane week at my house. Now I’m off to enjoy the weekend.

  1. My kids would love to go to an aquarium. We used to have a membership to a nearby zoo, but it really wasn’t anything spectacular. This week marked the first week of structured work for my high schoolers.. Surprisingly, my son was fine with everything. It was my daughter who griped the most, and it’s usually the other way around. 😛 Other than that, my week has been filled with extended family drama that I always seem to get thrown into the middle of, kind of like a mediator- a role I have never agreed to. Never. fun. Anyway, hope you have a good weekend!

  2. Two words my friend with regard to iPhone 7 camera – portrait mode. Seriously. I upgraded after dropping my 6 in the pool 🙁 – I know! Anyway, when I discovered that setting – oh my gosh!! I love it. Congratulations and welcome to the dark side :). Have a good weekend.
