Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve had an amazing week. I can’t believe we’re down to our last week of school! I may have to add that as a benefit to using workbooks. This year was so laid back for me that I haven’t been counting down the days until summer break. Nice.

As far as school goes, this week has been one of just wrapping things up, preparing to finish next week. Read: I’ve been trying to keep everyone focused and working diligently until this time next week.

Mother’s Day was super-nice this year. I really couldn’t have asked for a better one. First, Brianna ordered me a bouquet of sunflowers and Gerbera daisies – my two favorites! They are absolutely gorgeous and I have enjoyed them all week. She is like my sister – an excellent gift-giver because she is very attuned to the things that her gift recipients would enjoy.

Sunday morning, we started off with church (after cards and a sweet letter from Megan who shared her gift with words with me). The only thing that would have made this Mother’s Day better would be if Josh had been playing on the worship team on Sunday. Then, I could have enjoyed each of my kids’ gifts/talents.

Josh is playing this Sunday, though, and doing one of my favorite songs that I missed a couple of months ago when I was out of town.

After church, we went to my mom’s for a cookout and hanging out by the pool. Then, it was home for a Mother’s Day power nap followed by steaks on the grill. Then, the part that I was so excited about – heading to the theater to see Captain America!

I won’t ruin it with spoilers, but I did love it! I was afraid I wouldn’t. We’re going to see it again tonight – just Brian and I – with some friends.

I will say that having to pay full price for five adults to go to a movie was pretty painful. We are going to miss the discount from Brianna working at the theater. It was worth it, though. It was the perfect Mother’s Day gift to take the whole family out for a movie we’d all enjoy.

Brianna is enjoying training for her new job and thinks she’s going to really enjoy it – that’s always good.

In case you missed it, I think I’ve forgotten to pass along the last few articles I’ve published at About.com:

And that’s it – the highlights of our week.

  1. what a great Mothers Day you had! Those flowers are beautiful! We school year round but are in the process of packing and moving in late June so I am taking it easy for June and July and not pushing it…

    Enjoy the Summer!

  2. What beautiful flowers! Hope you had a lovely Mother’s Day! Captain America was amazing! We saw it a few nights ago. Do you have drive in theaters near you? It’s a fraction of the cost of going to the theater! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for hosting 🙂

    1. We do have one drive-in kind of us, but we’ve never been. There are a few reasons for that, but one is that they always show a double feature. Not only do I not have the patience to sit through two movies in a row, they very often don’t fit the same demographic audience at all. So, no patience plus no interest in one of the two movies. Plus, it’s a bit of a drive for us.

  3. What a great and fun Mother’s Day. Thanks for not spoiling it, we are going this afternoon. I love watching Super Hero movies with my kids. This is the first one we are seeing in the theatre.

And yes! The end is near for us too!

  4. Heading to see Captain America today…. not looking forward to it but with three boys I’m just glad I didn’t have to go on Mother’s day. That’s what they wanted to do last weekend…

    1. That makes me laugh because I love the Marvel movies. I was the one who suggested that we go see it on Mother’s Day. I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

      1. We just finished a Marvel marathon watching all the movies in chronological order. We watched Antman on Saturday night, so we could see Captain America on Sunday. It was a Great Mother’s Day! 😀

  5. My hubby and I also love superhero movies. And we can’t wait to see the new Captain America. We watched Captain America: Winter Soldier (the second Captain America movie) last night and plan to watch the second Avengers movie also before going to see it.
