Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve all had an amazing week. We survived our first week back to school after a long Christmas break. We didn’t accomplish quite as much as I’d hoped, but sometimes getting back into routine is accomplishment enough.

One of our Teaching Textbooks discs went missing during Christmas break. We still haven’t found it. Thankfully, Megan was almost finished with it, so we just went on to the next disc.

While looking for it, she did find the missing Algebra II and Japanese discs that we were looking for at the beginning of the year. The ones that I finally gave up on finding and purchased replacements for. Of course. (For the record, Megan wasn’t the guilty party for losing the first two discs.)

That kid cracks me up. She got a bit behind in her Experience Astronomy class because our break didn’t coincide with their schedule. As she was working on catching up this week, really struggled with one of the quizzes. She texted me saying that she had paid attention during the video lecture, but was having trouble remembering which name went with which accomplishment.

She then said, “I’ll watch it again tomorrow. Right now I’m trying not to stab my eyes out.”

She did successfully pass the quiz without stabbing her eyes out, so it’s all good.

Today we resume our small government co-op. We’re using Constitutional Literacy, which I’ll be reviewing soon, but if you’re looking for a high school government course, I’ll tell you now that I highly recommend it. Michael Farris presents an engaging lecture in each episode and the moms have learned as much as the teens. When we meet at Josh’s BFF’s house, his friend’s dad and older brother will often sit in on the video because they find it interesting as well.

I’ve been busy around the internet this week. You can find me at Simple Homeschooling sharing a glimpse into a day in the life of homeschooling teens and about About.com sharing 7 Skills Homeschoolers Need to Develop Before College. I hope you’ll click over to read them!

  1. I hear you! We lose things all the time and I swear I’ve looked everywhere so buy a new one and then just after it is posted (ie too late to cancel) it turns up (in the one place I have obviously not looked in). Grrrr….
    Have a great weekend!
