Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you all had an amazing week. Our was good. We have the first week of the 2017-2018 school year under our belts and attitudes have remained positive. You can’t ask for better than that.

Somebody please explain to me how my baby boy can possibly be a senior already. {sigh}

We kicked off our school year with an eclipse. Plus, we had a birthday lunch for Brian’s grandmother, complete with steak and ice cream cake. Not a bad way to start off the school year if I do say so myself.

The eclipse was fascinating. We were very near the path of totality, but after watching it live-streamed by NASA from several different locations, I wish we’d traveled a bit to see the total eclipse.

Still, we saw some pretty cool things like the crescent-shaped shadows through the leaves and shadow bands.

This week was mostly just easing back into the routine of school with reading, writing, math, and grammar. Since we’ve started so late (for us) anyway, I think I’ll wait until the first week of September to add science, history, and electives. I don’t expect any complaints on that one.

Yesterday was Brian’s and my 26th wedding anniversary. I can’t believe how quickly the years have passed. We’ve been through a lot together and I can’t imagine anyone I’d rather do life with.

We kept things simple – you know, since he had to work and the mid-week getaway I tried to plan for us fell through because the place I wanted to go was booked. That’s okay, though. I’m a simple kind of gal. A nice dinner out and spending time together works for me.

Those are the highlights for me this week. Y’all have a fabulous weekend!

  1. We were in the zone of 99% totality. I thought that would be enough, but I wish we had traveled a bit too. It did feel and look like about 8:15 at night, but not as dark as I expected.
    Blessings, Dawn
