Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! Have you had a great week? We’ve had better, but we’ll survive. Last Friday, Brian and I went to see the new Jack Reacher movie with some friends. I never saw the first one, but I’d seen several previews for this one and thought it looked pretty good. Plus, Brian really liked the first one. I have to admit that it was better than I expected and I really enjoyed it. I may have to go back and watch the first one now.

Wednesday was dental appointment day for Megan and me. Yuck. The older I get, the less I like going to the dentist. It was just a cleaning, though, so it wasn’t too bad. At least it’s only every six months.

I can’t even complain too much about going. We used to do family dental appointments (all five of us in one day), but now that Brianna drives herself, we decided there was no point in all going on the same day. That means I do my appointment, wait on one kid, and I’m done! It feels like nothing after years of waiting for up to 3 kids.

Thursday was super busy. We had school plus housework since we’re hosting over government class with friends this week. There was also dessert to be made for dinner at my mom’s and phone calls to be made for appointments and such. I can’t complain, though. It’s a nice feeling of accomplishment to mark everything off a long to-do list. I felt very productive.

I was so disappointed on Monday. I had ordered a light box on Amazon to use for taking photos of review products since the lighting in our house is so poor. I was so excited about it – and it was not impressive at all. The photos I made in the spots where I’ve learned to take advantage of the light at certain times during the day were better than the ones in the light box.

So, I packed it all back up and returned it while I was out running errands on Wednesday. Then, I ordered myself some new pens instead – because office supplies make me happy.

Those are the highlights of a rather uneventful week of homeschooling teenagers who only need a supervisor. They typically only need help with math and they haven’t needed much help with that this week. Thank you, Teaching Textbooks. {grin}

I did have articles at a few other places online this week. At iHomeschool Network, I shared 10 Resources for Teaching Kids About the Election Process (for procrastinators like me).

At About.com, I’m talking about When Homeschooling Isn’t Forever. It’s a great article if you or someone you know may likely be homeschooling only on a temporary basis.

That’s it for me this week. I’m off to enjoy the weekend!

  1. Bummer on the light box….cool on the movie! Hubby and I have not been to the movies in a LONGGG time..but took one of the kiddos to see that Middle School movie which was great! Enjoy the weekend!

  2. Oh, I know how you feel about the dentist. I have to get novacaine all over my mouth just to have my teeth cleaned because my teeth are so sensitive. Next week 5 of my kids have a dentist appointment, and the week after that the other five do. Fun.

  3. Sounds like a fun week. Enjoy your week of peace. I still have to be more involved with my 13 yr old’s math and writing. I still can’t figure out if TT geometry he is using for his ‘mathlab’ is working. He doesn’t even take notes or uses paper when he does it and passes most of his stuff. He’s also doing AbekaAcademy Geometry which he seems to like enough to not bail out. He just hates doing Proofs, lol!

  4. No post to link up this week, but really wanted to pop by and thank you for your lovely comment about the interview. You made my day a very happy one 🙂
