Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! Have you had an amazing week? School-wise ours was rather mundane, but weather-wise it’s been fantastic! Most days have been sunny with highs in the upper-60’s. It’s been like spring! I’d be totally okay with skipping the rest of winter and moving on to spring.

I can’t wait until Sunday, y’all! Well, okay, I can wait because I do enjoy my lazy Saturdays, but I’m looking forward to Sunday. Josh and Megan will both be on the main worship team at church this week!

Josh is playing guitar for all the worship songs and Megan will be part of a chorus for the last two songs. Both of my babies are going to be leading worship together! I may need some tissues. {sniff}

So, Megan has a boyfriend. I haven’t said anything because it’s her business, but it looks like it may be a thing for awhile so I thought I’d throw it out there in case I mention it and y’all are all like, “Huh? What? When did this happen?”

We’re happy for her. It’s a boy we’ve known, along with his family, for years. He’s a polite, funny, thoughtful homeschooled kid who goes to church with us. Anyway, I mention it now because, at this point, their dates consist of Connor coming to our house to hang out or Megan going to his house to hang out – always with watchful parents and siblings.

For the last couple of weeks, he’s come over on Wednesdays. Which leads me, finally, to my point. Megan happily cleans up the house before Connor comes over –vacuuming, cleaning the downstairs bathroom, and straightening up. That means we go into the weekend with a clean house and I don’t feel like I have to spend half my Saturday on housework.

Megan gets to hang out with her boyfriend and I get a clean house. Win-win, y’all!

Belle, the puppy is getting so big! She’s almost as tall as Peanut now and weighs about 12 pounds. Everyone finally seems to be adjusting. Peanut will finally play with her, albeit a bit grumpily.

The cats have figured out that if they don’t run from her, Belle loses interest and leaves them alone – though, she’s all about chasing them if they run. She doesn’t try to hurt them, though. She’s just full of energy. So much energy.

Megan starting watching the new TV show This Is Us last fall. I would watch bits and pieces, thinking it looked like a good show, but I never sat down to watch it. For some reason, last Saturday, she and Brian started watching it from the first episode On Demand.

Oh, my goodness! Brian and I are hooked! We have binge-watched all week – about 3 episodes a day. We’ve even watched This Is Us instead of shows that we usually watch, deciding to watch them later On Demand. Last night, we caught up, watching the episode the aired last week. Have you watched it? It is such a good show!

What TV shows are you into right now? We love This Is Us, Pure Genius, Elementary, and The Big Bang Theory. We also watch Bones (It’s the final season.), Scorpion (which tends to be ridiculous, but I always like the beginning and the end), and Blindspot. Those last three are the ones we saved until later this week in favor of This Is Us.

I guess those are pretty much the highlights of my week. There’s not much to report, school-wise, with two teens who are doing their own thing.

  1. We’re currently on Spooks, The Big Bang Theory and How I Met your Mother. I’ve never heard of many of the ones you sited. I shall have to see if they are on Netflix or Prime.

  2. Since we don’t have cable, our TV viewing is confined to what’s on Netflix. My older kids and I watched Stranger Things and loved it, and my younger kids just watched the entire season of Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events in two days flat. I love those lazy days when I can veg out in front of the TV. 🙂

  3. My husband and I like to watch The Big Bang and Scorpion too; though we do tend to poke fun of how unrealistic Scorpion can be and some inconsistencies in plot lines.

  4. My daughter has her first boyfriend, too. He is a sweet young man, and their dates consist mostly of hanging at each others’ houses (with parents) or seeing a movie. I’m going to plant a bug in her ear about the housecleaning thing! We also love This Is Us and boy did I cry last week! We all love Blue Bloods, and we’re also watching The Crown on Netflix.

  5. sounds like I may need to let my daughter have a boyfriend, if it would lead to some extra help around the house! LOL I rarely watch TV any more – mostly hockey games when I do.
