Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve all had a fantastic week. Ours has been great! Thanks for all the prayers last week. I think maybe we’re experiencing one of those blessing-in-disguise things.

The big news is that my mini-me, my baby – Megan – turned 16 yesterday. How in the world have 16 years passed so very quickly, y’all? {sniff}

Megan and her BFF share a birthday. (Gianna is a year older.) As has become their tradition, Gianna spent the night Wednesday night so that they could spend their birthday morning together. They always exchange their presents with each other on their actual birthday, then, they each have a birthday party with friends on different days.

I’m not a huge planner, but I am good at getting up before teenagers. (Brianna pointed out that it’s not that hard since they sleep until noon, but whatever. I was proud of my accomplishment.

I got up and went to get a birthday banner, a balloon bouquet, flowers for Megan, and cards for each of them. And confetti because when your house is already a mess, what’s a little confetti?

I also picked up a Dairy Queen ice cream cake for later and I may or may not have squeezed in a run to Chick-fil-A for sweet tea.

I was able to get back home and get it all set up before they woke up. They really liked it.

Megan and I had lunch and did a little shopping on Wednesday and today we’re getting our nails done – fingers for her, toes for me. She has some friends spending the night, too, so it’s been a good birthday week.

We did manage to squeeze in some school this week, too. We usually take Megan’s whole birthday week off because it usually winds up being about six weeks after we start school. We started later this year, though, so we did school the first part of the week.

Josh has been working through a Java course that I purchased through Udemy. He’s really been impressed with it so far. He showed me his notes the other day and was explaining to me what he’d been doing. I had no idea what he was talking about, so I’m pretty impressed, too! {grin}

Y’all have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Happy, happy birthday Megan!
    Oh my goodness, Kris, 16!!!! How are you handling it? My youngest is six and I go to pieces each time she grows out of a particular size of clothes. I will not be handling it at all when she turns sixteen, after all I only gave birth to my eldest yesterday….

    1. I know! {sniff} It’s not easy. Add to that the fact that Josh will be graduating this year and I’m a bit of a basket case.
