Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! After a rainy start to the week, the last couple of days have felt like spring. I’m ready for spring and warmer weather to be here to stay!

Of course, I live in the South, so that’s not going to happen. It’s supposed to be in the mid-seventies today – and the possibility of snow is in the forecast for the weekend!

Thankfully the weather was mild last Saturday, so Brian was able to cut down a tree in our yard. It’s been here since we moved in over 23 years ago, but it died during the drought last summer.

While we were eating supper Saturday night, I looked out the window, and one of the cats was sitting in the yard, staring at the empty spot with the most confused look on her face. I wish I could have gotten a good picture of her. It was hilarious.

Wednesday, I took Megan for a doctor’s appointment. We were surprised to see a giant male turkey parading around in front of the building with his feathers all ruffled up.

We were a little worried walking past him because he wasn’t afraid of us at all. He just looked at us, though, and followed us to the door where some of the staff had come out to throw apple slices in an attempt to coax him away from the door. Megan’s doctor said he chased her, so we were glad he was content to pose for pictures for us.

This is the face of an old dog who has had just about all he can take of a certain puppy and her squeaky toy.

Wednesday evening, Brian let Josh drive the Mustang to church for youth band practice. It’s the third time he’s taken the car out alone and the first time with Megan as a passenger.

Fear tastes like metal, y’all.

We usually restrict FaceTime to when the kids are home and on Wi-Fi since it uses a lot of data. However, I told Megan that she could continue to FaceTime her boyfriend until she and Josh got to where they were going – and I told Connor to call me if they had a wreck.

They were fine.

The puppy, minus her squeak toy, who is not such a little puppy anymore.

Today, Megan heads to Atlanta with my sister and brother-in-law for the Green Day concert. She’s so excited! So is my sister who’s loved the band since she was Megan’s age, but has never seen them in concert.

You may recall that my sister and brother-in-law won Christmas this year when they gave Megan the ticket. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to top that gift just because it was such a complete surprise. The look on Megan’s face was priceless. I still watch the video every so often.

Does anyone else have a dog who sleeps like a person – complete with snoring?

I’m headed to Greenville, SC next Thursday for the Great Homeschool Conventions Southeast event. Are any of you going? Let me know if you are. Maybe we can meet up.

Now, I’m off to enjoy the spring-like day before winter returns tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend, friends!

  1. I think that turkey knows Thanksgiving is too far away for him to be too worried! And we don’t have a dog that sleeps like a person but we have a cat who does! He’ll lay on his back with his head on a pillow and if the kids throw a blanket over him pulled up to his chin… he seems all the happier!
