Happy Friday!  Can you believe that next week is Christmas?!?  Wow!  We’re not quite ready, but Brian is off Monday, so we’re going to go out and finish our shopping.  I’m telling myself that Monday probably won’t be so bad, crowd-wise.  No, I don’t really believe that, but I’m choosing to live in my denial for a few more days.

This week has really been a week of just taking it easy.  I enjoy a first week of nothing when we’ve got several weeks off.  Next week will be some house-cleaning and Christmas baking.

We did enjoy Josh’s birthday at Chuck E. Cheese last week with a couple of close friends, my mom and sister, dad and step-mom.  Even Brian got to take the day off and join in the fun.  It was great to get some real smiles out of Josh, who usually likes to avoid showing too much enthusiasm.

The funniest thing to me was that my mom and I got him the same thing – on purpose.  He wanted this Lego Star Wars transport thing, but he insisted that he needed two of them to have room for all of his Lego Storm Troopers (he collects them).

He was thrilled.

Brianna was supposed to have Spanish class last Monday, but it got canceled due to icy weather, so we’ve just been enjoying lots of downtime.

After a slow week of laying around and trying to keep warm, we’ve got a busy weekend ahead with a birthday party on Saturday, church and small group on Sunday and finishing our Christmas shopping on Monday.  At least it’s all fun stuff.

Just a reminder that this will be the last Weekly Wrap-Up of 2010.  We’ll resume on Friday, January 7.  I hope you all enjoy a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year with your families!

  1. I am right with you on the Christmas baking and house cleaning. Bring on the sugar cookies and sprinkles! Merry Christmas to you and your family 🙂

  2. Ahhhh, that wonderful little thing called downtime. I'm looking forward to some of that next week. Of course there's my Christmas cookie/treat making to look forward to, as well. There's usually some sort of debacle involved…

  3. My boys would understand totally the need to have duplicate sets of anything Star Wars LEGO. 🙂

Thanks so much for another year of Weekly Wrap-Ups…it keeps me motivated and inspired by others like you who are stepping up week after week to home educate.

Have a great break…we will more than likely not be back until 1/14/11. That sounds like a really long way off.

  4. I'm glad Josh had such a great birthday! Enjoy your time off 🙂 Your animals look so comfy-I have that same blanket in pink-it's so soft! Merry Christmas!!!!!

  5. It must be great to just have some down time. Sounds very nice. It is hard to believe Christmas is next week! Thanks for hosting and have a wonderful holiday.
