Why is it that the weeks you’re on vacation seem to move at light speed?  We went to Disney last week, but we took this week off, too, in order to recoup and catch some things up at home.  For a week off, it was incredibly busy and I haven’t gotten nearly as much done for school as I hoped or planned to.  Isn’t that always the way it goes?

The highlights?  Well, Wednesday, we had our regular music classes and nature study.  Then, we took the kids to the second-run theater to see Up.  Have you seen it yet?  That movie — that cartoon — made me cry within the first fifteen minutes!  And twice more before it was over.  Stupid movie.  It was very good, though — a really cute movie.

Thursday, Brianna went with a group of kids from our homeschool group to a local pottery place where you select and paint your own pottery.  Brian took her and neither of them would tell me what she made.  I did correctly guess that it had something to do with Twilight (How did I ever guess??), but that’s all I know.  She’s supposed to pick it up in a couple of weeks, so I guess I’ll have to wait until then.

Afterward, we took Megan and a couple of friends to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate her birthday, since we were on vacation during her actual birthday.  That place was packed — a total mad house, but, of course, the kids had a great time.

Today was our homeschool group’s Not Back-to-School Party.  It was hot and humid, but we had a great time.  It was overcast and, with all the rain we’ve already had the last couple of weeks, our attendance was off.  However, we still had a nice, big group of hot, sweaty kids happy to see each other.  And, of course, we poor, unsocialized moms (and a few dads) really enjoyed it, too.

  1. I'm LOL at your description of UP. We saw it recently and that was how I felt about it too. Could it be more depressing? And the friend who planned this outing bailed at the last minute so she didn't even get to suffer through all the tears. LOL I still curse her.

  2. I'll post and link up tomorrow. Tell Megan I'm jealous. A birthday at Disney AND a party a Chuck E Cheese? 🙂

  3. Well. I read the guidelines and I'm HOPING this is fair….

We just STARTED home schooling this week (sort of) but I plan to trek our progress on Fridays per your motivating Weekly Round up. So next week will be a bit more detailed but this week is The Beginning.

  4. I didn't know Up was playing. That is one we would like to see.
Sounds like a good week.. and I can't remember what Brianna painted!! LOL

  5. I really wanted to post a wrap up this week, cause we had an awesome week. I've just been behind on my online "stuff" and haven't been able to write a post. I may write a late one, but I'm keeping up with yours and enjoying reading about your weeks!

  6. I haven't seen Up. My DDs saw it this summer when they went to visit my in-laws. Sounds like a busy week anyway, and that makes for good memories. Glad that your vacation was fun! We went to Disney World in 2006- my father-in-law took the whole family- all 14 of us!
