I don’t know about you, but I’m glad it’s Friday.  It’s not been a bad week or anything, I just like a couple of days of no real responsibilities as much as the next person I guess.  Not that I exactly have that this weekend.  I’ve got a to-do list a mile long, at the top of which is doing the next 3-4 weeks of lesson plans.

Brianna finally went back to Spanish on Monday, after an extra long break due to the snow.  Thankfully, Brian was home to take her because I was feeling rough.  It was just a head cold, thankfully, instead of the flu like everyone else had, but it really drug me down for a couple of days. I didn’t get out of the bed at all Sunday except to eat a couple of times.  I’m not sure if it’s the Vitamin C and D I’ve been taking or just my better overall health now, but I’ve gotten over it really quickly, for which I’m very thankful.

Tuesday was a day at home, just plugging away at school.  We’ve been doing a History Pocket as part of our American history study and we captured a few unsuspecting snails to study for science.  I had to go outside to find them after digging around in my peace lily, and discovering that it appears that our snails may all be deceased.  There were a lot of empty shells.  I guess there were too many to be sustained by one little peace lily.  And, there is the possibility that I didn’t keep the soil moist enough.  I’m known for my way with plants – it’s not a good reputation, though.

Wednesday was back to music after missing it last week due to the snow, as well.  A friend and I always walk during the class.  I got up and did my regular workout before we left for music and I walked on the treadmill while watching American Idol.  I set my personal best record for calories burning from exercise in one day, I think –  over 1,200! I was pretty excited about that.  I’ve lost 67 pounds now and am hoping to reach an exciting personal milestone when I weigh in on Monday.

Thursday was a normal day until I felt a headache coming on the evening.  I took something for it and drank a Coke since it felt like a caffeine headache (I’ve been trying to get off caffeine – again).  It just got worse and worse until it felt like my eyes were about to pop out of my skull and it became one of those sick headaches.  Yeah, I guess this is my sob story post for the month.  All I know is that when I woke up during the night and realized that it wasn’t hurting anymore, I took time to praise God and thank Him that it was gone. You don’t realize how good it is not to have a horrible headache until you’ve had one go away.  Sometimes it’s the little things.

Megan and I finished Farmer Boy last night before my headache got too excruciating.  I’d forgotten what a great book that was.  It almost made me cry at the end.  Such a sweet ending.  Josh and I are almost finished with one of the Jedi Apprentice series books.  I’ve got to admit, I’ve found the series really interesting.  If you’ve got a boy who’s into Star Wars, I highly recommend the series.

Today has been a relaxing day at home, doing school at our own pace because we have nowhere that we have to be.  Nice.  It’s one of those days where you’ve got time to actually put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, throw a few loads of laundry in, and start feeling a little more caught up than you have in a few days.  I love those days.  I guess that’s why I’m looking so forward to this weekend – a chance to catch up.

Oh, and hey, did you see that I’m speaking at the 2:1 Conference?  I’m so excited!  Are any of you planning on being there?  If so, let me know.  I’d love to meet you.  Monday only, the tickets will be on sale for $25 off (attendee only), so that might be a good day to get your ticket if you haven’t already.

Sorry for the no-pictures post this week.  I’m not that caught up yet.

  3. Can so relate to your cold and to really bad headaches! What an incredible feeling health is when it is returned. 🙂 I take mine way too much for granted! Glad you're feeling better!

  4. It's so nice to have those relaxing days where you can start to feel caught up. We had one of those today. Congrats on your weight loss too! I am on a journey of weight loss myself.

    Thanks again for hosting.

  5. Hi there! I'm happy to have discovered this homeschooling linky party – can't wait to learn from everyone! My daughter and I are just getting started on some early learning at home and I'm looking for some inspiring ideas, thanks for hosting the party — your blog name cracks me by the way, I totally love it!!!

  6. So glad you are feeling better mama! Thanks for the suggestion of the Star Wars series. Mr. Lego would love that as a read aloud.

  7. No matter how great any given week is or how busy the weekend may be, we always look forward to Fridays!

Way to go on your weight loss!!! How on earth did you burn 1200 calories in one day? That's amazing! I'm working on taking wome weight off too, but I'm lucky to burn 400 cals in a day. Great job!!! 🙂

  8. Good for you for sticking with the exercise even with a rough week. 1200 calories, that's amazing. Hope you have a good weekend.

  9. I've had those kinds of headaches, and I have done exactly what you said with waking up, realizing it's gone, and thanking God for that!

  10. 67 pounds is awesome, way to go!!

I'm also having a similar sinus issue and it's so annoying. I'm exhausted and my head is pounding.

    Have a great weekend.

  11. I'm hoping to get my first wrap-up in a MONTH posted tomorrow, which will be awesome. But I wanted to say thanks for the tip on the Jedi Apprentice series. I've added #1 to my wishlist: my boy is a HUGE Star Wars fan. He's only 4, so the plan is to read it myself as a potential read-aloud candidate. He'd LOVE that. And I won't find reading about Star Wars a chore at all. Obi-wan is a favorite :]

  12. @Ritsumei — I hope you enjoy the Jedi Apprentice series. I've been surprised by how much I've enjoyed them. I was actually a little disappointed that, because Josh had a friend spend the night last night, we didn't get to finish the book we're on.

  13. I am glad you are feeling better. I know what you mean about not knowing how good it feels not to have a headache until you've had one go away.
