It’s Weekly Wrap-Up time and I’m excited! Know why?  Well, I guess you do, if you read the post title.  We are officially (well, once the kids finish their independent work, but I am officially) on Spring Break!  And, I’ve seen the weather forecast for next week.  It’s niiiiice.  Not a drop of precipitation in the forecast and mid-seventies all week.  Perfect.  I can’t wait!

This week was spend keeping caught up on the basics, for the most part.  Nothing terribly exciting, school-wise.  Really, I should just stop now and leave the whole Weekly Wrap-Up to y’all because I’ve got nothing in the “interesting resources” or “hands-on fun” departments.

How about a little “this has nothing to do with anything, but it’s a fun anecdote” instead?  So, we were going to the Y yesterday and were passed by a firetruck, lights blazing, siren blaring.  Josh said, “I hope it’s not going to the Y.”

I, in all my all-knowing parent glory, said, “It’s not going to the Y.”

We pulled up to the Y and there are not one, but two firetrucks sitting out front.  The entire place was evacuated, people standing around in bathing suits, wrapped in towels.  We didn’t see any smoke anywhere, so we decided to wait a while and see if they let everyone back in.

It didn’t take long.  Some kid had pulled a fire alarm in the Adventure Center.  Can you imagine being that kids’ parent?  How embarrassing!  And the kid?  I bet it was worse for him (or her) than the time Josh and Megan called 9-1-1.

Last night, I talked to some kid who looked an awful lot like my oldest, but was, instead, this strangely mature, grown-up kind of person…some person who was talking to me about some very wise, grown-up kinds of things.  I’ve asked her permission to post a bit about it later…but not today.  I need time to sit down and get my thoughts together and say what I want to say without invading Brianna’s privacy.  She’s a good, mature kid, though, and I spent some time last night praising God for the young woman she’s becoming and for putting some wise women in my path to mentor and influence me as I try to mentor and disciple my kids.

Now, I think I’m going to turn this over to y’all as I go daydream a bit more about Spring Break week.  Have a great weekend!  If this is your first time to join us, be sure to read the Weekly Wrap-Up guidelines.

  1. Kris, I meant to comment last week and tell you how great you look in the family picture. Congratulations on your progress so far. Enjoy your break.

  2. Congrats on spring break! y'all have a great time. And it's sure a privilege to talk to a growing up young girl. I have one of those too – she keeps me on my toes 🙂

  3. Yeah for Spring Break!

(Oh, and I appreciate the fun story…we had a toddler, while his Mama was holding him, pull the fire alarm at our church once…good times, good times…)

  4. Have a great spring break! So glad the weather looks like it will hold out for you!

And my Brother-In-Law pulled the fire alarm at a church dance once, when he was 5. He got scared just LOOKING at the fire alarm after that!

  5. Hurrah for spring break! I hope you all enjoy gorgeous weather and recharge your batteries 🙂

I can't wait to see what mature meanderings your daughter shared with you!

  6. The fire story reminds me of when my 18 month old daughter was playing with the phone and accidently dialed 911. I don't think the officials believed a baby could've found those magic sequence of numbers, but she did.

    Enjoy your spring break!
