I am sitting here enjoying the best, most beautiful Friday. I hope you are, too!  What makes this Friday so great?  Well, it’s a sunny, seventy-nine degrees, for one thing.  Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow and I’m not even disappointed about that because it means some of this insane pollen that drives my allergy-ridden family (I’m the only one in the family who doesn’t suffer from seasonal allergies) will be washed out of the air.  I am sitting here in my new pair of Capri pants that are five sizes smaller than the pants I was wearing in November.  I’ve just enjoyed a delicious salad for lunch.  My kids are done with their schoolwork for the week.  It’s a great day!

I’m not even going to think about the fact that I’ve been so busy each evening this week that I haven’t checked the kids schoolwork for the week.  I’m totally choosing to ignore the fact that I have five days worth of work, multiplied by three kids, to check later this evening.  It will be a good reminder of why I should make time to check everybody’s work every day.

We’ve had a busy week of doctor’s appointments, musical recital practice, and music recital.  I gave the kids a light school schedule this week — which means all independent work in their workboxes.  It has been, for me, a sneak peek at what I can expect in the next year or two as they start moving toward independence.

I like it!

I’ve met everyone at the kitchen table each morning for our Bible lesson.  Then, I’ve gone over Daily Grams and Easy Grammar with Josh and Megan, just to make sure that they understand the directions.  Then, I’ve been free to do other things (on the two days that we haven’t been running hither and yon), just keeping myself available for any questions or explanations.  Nice!

The music recital went well.  Josh graduated from the program, so it was a little bittersweet.  My baby is growing up.  It seems like I’ve only blinked since his class was performing for the first time.  Megan has only one year left and she’ll graduate, too.  Where on earth does the time go?

Monday begins our four-week countdown until we’re finished with school for the summer.  Woo hoo!!  I think we’ll plan on wrapping up our Native Americans study and resume early American history in the fall.  We’re definitely going to have to get back into our nature study, as well.  It’s too pretty outside not to get out and learn by exploring God’s beautiful handiwork.

I hit 45 lbs. lost this week!  As I mentioned, I’m wearing Capri pants five sizes smaller than the jeans I was wearing in November.  If I can drop 2.5 lbs. this week, I’ll be exactly half-way to my goal weight.  Although I developed my “do or do not” attitude  shortly after beginning this journey, when I very first began, I never really expected to be where I am today.  It feels so good and I am so happy to have made it successfully to almost the midpoint of my journey.  Thank you all for your amazing support!

  1. You have inspired me to lose some weight ~ that and the idea of a bathing suit scares me silly! Keep up the good work!

  2. LOL Yeah, bath suits will do that to you this time of year. I'm excited that I'm going to need a smaller size bathing suit this year, but not excited about buying it. Those things aren't cheap!

  3. Yay for the 5 sizes smaller, and yay for the countdown to finishing the year! We have a few more weeks than you to, mainly because we started later than we planned (that trip to Africa last August!) and had a couple of off weeks. But I'm trying to hang in there!

  4. Awesome on your weight loss!!! I need to shed a few myself.

I'm totally jealous that you're hitting the independent stage. I would be but then our little surprise showed up and we're starting over. She says funny things and gives great hugs though, so it all evens out.

  5. I hate it when I slack and don't do paperwork all week….ruins a perfectly good Friday. 🙂

You are one week ahead of us but we will get there!

Thanks for hosting the Weekly Wrap-Up.

  6. Kris, so excited with you as you continue to knock off those weight loss milestones. Another month and I can start think about losing weight instead of gaining. 🙂

Encouraging to see that glimmering light of independence that will make your homeschool schedule more manageable. Thanks for sharing the hope. 😉

  7. You are just cruising on the weight loss – awesome! and DONE for the year next week? Congrats too. After our first week of May testing we'll "officially" be done too.

  8. Congrats on the 45#! I lost 35# after kid #2…and I remember how elated I was. And how drastically different I looked. Now…I have all that to loose again…I never lost it after kid #3. I'm going to do it though.

  9. Wow, congrats on your weight loss! You are doing so, so well! We're getting a bit more independent around here as well, and it is so nice!

  10. Five sizes? That is amazing! I know that it cost you in lifestyle changes, and I am thankful you are reaping the benefit. Way to go, girl!

  11. That is awesome!! 5 stinkin' sizes Wahoo!!! AND only 4 weeks of school?? I have 8. Oy.
