Happy Friday!  This is probably going to be the short and sweet edition of the Weekly Wrap-Up because the time has really gotten away from me today and I’ve got a busy afternoon.  Thankfully, for the most part, our summer has been more of the laid-back, lazy version.

Brianna made it safely home from youth camp last Friday. She had a great time and really enjoyed the spiritual aspect of the week as much as the social. That’s always a blessing for a parent to hear. It is my prayer that the spiritual growth that started last week will continue in the weeks and months to come.

I ran my first 10K last Saturday! My time was slow compared to a lot of the other runners, but it was exactly what I was shooting for – 1 hour, 12 minutes. I was very pleased. I’ve got another 5K tomorrow and I’m really hoping to finish in my best 5K time yet.

Monday, the kids were thrilled to go to a pool party for one of the girls on Brianna’s volleyball team. We haven’t had much opportunity to swim this summer, so that was a real treat – especially for Megan, who has really been wanting to swim.

The rest of the week has been pretty much the same old, same old – Lego-building, board-game-playing, Internet surfing. Summer time.

The big thing on the agenda today is to take Brianna’s laptop to see if it can be fixed. It locked up a couple of weeks ago. I’ve messed with it, we talked to a computer-geek friend about it, and my brother-in-law looked at it. No luck so far. I’m sincerely hoping that, at the very least, the files can be extracted off the hard drive so that she doesn’t lose her stuff.

Stupid computers. Guess who’ll be much more diligent about backing stuff up now? Yep, all of us because I’m just as guilty as Brianna about not doing that like I should. You never realize how important it is until you face losing stuff.

I’m off to get busy. Have a great weekend!

  1. I'm so impressed that you ran your first 10k! Way to go!
And hope Brianna's computer gets fixed!

  2. So glad Brianna had a good time at camp!   Congrats on the 10K!   You're doing amazing!

  3. I just want to say that I love my Carbonite subscription! I think it costs $60 (for one computer – think the give discounts for multiple computers in same house account) but it automatically backs up everything. Well, not programs. But files, pictures, music – whatever I program it to back up. It backs up automatically all the time, running in the background of my computer. I think McAfee has added online back up also if you use McAfee. I highly recommend it! Hope you get the computer working.

  4. Thanks. We weren't able to get it fixed. The hard drive crashed, so we've
basically lost everything that was on it. We were running Norton on it,
which offers online backup, but I think I had it turned off because we
didn't have much storage space and it kept prompting us to buy more. *sigh*
    Lesson learned. The hard way.
