Weekly Wrap-Up: The One with the Back-to-School Party
Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a good week. Ours has been rather busy with its share of ups and downs.
On Monday I had to go for my health risk assessment for our health insurance. It was actually kind of fun because my health has improved so much over the last couple of years. And, since it was early, it didn’t disrupt our school day. In fact, I got quite a bit done.
I had actually considered taking Monday off as a life skills day since I’ve felt unable to catch up lately. The house was a disaster, laundry was piled up, and I there wasn’t any catch-up time looming in the near future.
However, after some consideration, I decided that we’d just work on doing a little bit each day and do whatever was left on the weekend. With that philosophy, I was able to get the laundry caught up, a closet cleaned out, and some vacuuming done, which put a nice dent in what still needs to be done over the weekend.
I love having a lap buddy when I blog. He’s so spoiled.
Tuesday, Brianna and I had a doctor’s appointment right it the middle of the day – my least favorite, most disruptive kind. It was my first skin check at the dermatologist. I was fully expecting to be told everything was fine and to go about my merry little way, so I was very surprised when she marked three places for biopsy. Of the three, there’s only one that I’m kind of concerned about. I hope to hear something next week.
Wednesday and Thursday were those wonderful days when you’re actually at home all day and can get some stuff done. We spent some time catching up history and science, along with the basics. This weekend, I’ll be working on lesson plans to make some of the changes to history that I mentioned in yesterday’s review. I’m actually pretty excited about that.
I had some fun, hands-on things planned for this week, but things didn’t quite fall into place for that, so I’ll move them to next week. One of the things that I really want to do is make paracord bracelets since that sort-of-kind-of ties in to our study of explorers/sailors. Yeah, it’s a bit of a stretch, but I thought that both Josh and Megan would enjoy the project and it will keep their hands occupied during read-aloud time.
Our week ended on a high note with our annual Not-Back-to-School party. The turnout was a bit low because rain was threatening all morning, but we managed to secure the covered pavilion and never did get any rain. It was great to spend some time with a group of homeschool moms. I always find that so encouraging, if for no other reason than realizing that I’m not alone in my struggles and frustrations.
Now, if I can just get lesson plans and housework caught up this weekend, I should be set.

Prayers for you with the biopsy. And I absolutely love the sign at the not back to school bash!
Sad to admit this, but we had school with two buckets of clean clothes in the middle of our living room waiting to be folded. We were both so tired after school that folding was just too much to ask.
At least all the other chores got done, and more lessons this week. Yay!!! Have a great weekend Kris.
I want to come homeschool up there !!
I will keep you in my prayers as you await the results of your biopsy!
It sounds like you had a very productive week! Kudos on getting so much done, both in homeschool and with laundry/chores. That is certainly no easy feat!
And I love that you had a bash with other homeschool moms! I wish there was something like that around here.
Many blessings,
Lisa
Catching up…finally felt caught up on Thursday:)
I pray your biopsies turn out fine!
I love the banner 🙂 I will pray about your biopsy.
I tried to link up, but it tells me I already linked up – only I didn't 🙁 Technical diffiuculties I guess!
I had that kind of week too…the harder I tried to get caught up the further behind I got. We'll be doing geography tomorrow…yes on Saturday….and hopefully the laundry will do itself while I work on cleaning house!
Sounds like a productive week on so many levels. Love the banner too! Thanks for hosting.
t-shirts, signs, and all…lol!
Absolutely! 😉
Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you for your prayers.
Thank you!
Thanks for your prayers.
Love that banner at your picnic – hee hee. 🙂 Hope those biopsies come back all clear. And I love that you see what you were able to get down (housework-wise) as making a dent in the work for the weekend – I really need to have that attitude!!
Sounds like a busy week! I love the banner at the party!
I like your attitude of a little bit is better than nothing. I've been trying to adopt it myself. Hope all goes well with your biopsy.
LOVE the banner!!!
i love that you actually have shirts with the slogan!
