So, I have the feeling that my Weekly Wrap-Up posts are going to get pretty monotonous this summer.  I mean, really, my favorite part of summer break is staying up late, playing around on the computer.  We don’t school through the summer, not even light schooling, though the random “learning opportunity” may present itself.  So, you can just skim to the bottom and link up if you want.  😉

We did absolutely nothing on Monday.  Brian had to work and we’d already enjoyed a Memorial Day cookout with family on Sunday.  It rained, so we just hung around the house.  I think I worked on laundry a bit.  I did enjoy our Memorial Day cookout, though.  I loved spending time with my dad and extended family.  I also loved that the shirt I wore came from my daughter’s closet!  It was a large and too big for her, but it fit me!  It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to comfortably wear a large.

Tuesday, we ran some errands.  I dropped my wedding/engagement rings off to be sized — smaller!  They were able to be taken down a full size.  My favorite part of getting work done on my rings is how they use the “magical, top-secret jeweler stuff” to clean them up.  My rings look brand new.

Wednesday, I decided to start my birthday week.  😉  I picked up my rings, so that was birthday present number one.  On Thursday, my camera bag was delivered, so that was birthday present number two.  My camera is on a UPS truck somewhere today on its way to my house.  My personal goal for the day is not to frighten or physically injure the UPS man when he comes to my door.  I can’t wait to get my camera, though, and start learning how to use it.

Other highlights from the week:

Rain.  I got my van washed last Thursday.  It has rained every single day since I did.  It’s raining right now.  Oh, well.  A rainy summer day is still better than a sunny winter day, as far as I’m concerned.  Unless, of course, it’s one of those unseasonably warm, sunny winter days.  Those are really nice.

Scrabble.  I am hopelessly addicted to online Scrabble.  I think I’ve played every day since I discovered it.  Usually several times a day.  Not during the day, though — usually.  Mostly between the hours of midnight and 2 AM.  And, it’s like potato chips:  I can’t play just one game.  I have to play two or three in a row.  I love word games and Scrabble is my favorite.

Did you see my post yesterday, Time for MomRana suggested that I make it a linky event.  Would you enjoy that?  You could each post about the hobbies for which you’re making time and maybe post pictures of the fruits of your labor, whether it be drawing, paining, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, photography…whatever.  What do you think?  If there’s enough interest, I wouldn’t mind hosting a link up even, maybe once or twice a month.  How often would you want to participate?

How was your week? Be sure to post about it and sign up with MckLinky. If this is your first time to join us, be sure to read the Weekly Wrap-Up guidelines.

  1. I think a feature on Just for Mom is an awesome idea. I saw your post yesterday and think it is so important for moms to focus on continuing ed for themselves. Congrats on the new camera and Happy Birthday!

  2. Ooo, I like the Just for Moms idea, too! Hope it's okay that I linked up my not-really-weekly-wrap-up this time around.

And one more time — hurray for the new camera! 😉

  3. I got a Cannon Rebel a couple years ago and I love it! It is one of my most prized and favorite possessions. I hope you get yours soon and have a great time with it!

  4. I am a total Scrabble nut, and I had no idea there's an online version! Yippee! (Or maybe, oh no!)

    Have a fab b'day!

  5. Ellen,

Yes!! I play at Pogo.com. It's free. You can play against actual online people or robots. I like playing against robots better because your turn is timed. If you run out of time, the robots will give you more time, people won't (at least not the people I've played against). I like being able to take my time, learn new words and techniques, and increase my skills. It's a lot of fun.

  6. I love that my husband puts my clothes in my 10 year old's closets! Who knew a body could go from 1x to small (the hard way)!?
We school through the summer, but are having a lighter load.
    Happy Birthday!

  7. I love the idea of a mom time Linky. It's nice sometimes to see what other moms are doing and to share what we are doing for ourselves. 🙂

  8. I loved your post yesterday, and think it would be a great way to encourage moms to take time for themselves! Happy Birthday. 🙂

  9. The one with the camera is always the best one. =o)

Oh my! The bag arriving before the camera must have been a small form of torture.

I can't wait to see all of your pictures with your fancy new camera.

  10. a homeschool friend engaged me in a real life game of scrabble about 7 mos ago– first time i'd played in perhaps a decade. it was so much fun to sit and play a game with another mom instead of just talking about kids & curriculum! the next day she sent me a facebook scrabble invite, and that was the beginning of the end. at one point i had 10 different games going on at once with 8 different people. i think i'm down to 4 or 5 at the moment. i don't DARE go to the site you suggested!

  11. I so hope that you didn't scare the UPS man to much. I think mine is starting to know me by name and thinks I might be a hermit LOL. I hope that you are enjoying your new camera. I am stopping by from Monday Mingle. I hope this week is fun for you!

  12. I came over from Monday Mingle. I think your sense of humor and mine are very much alike (scary thought, huh?)
