Happy Friday! Have you had a wonderful week? Ours has been pretty enjoyable. My oldest has probably had more fun than any of us. She’s been at church camp all week. Other than the early mornings, of which she is not a fan, I’m guessing she’s had a wonderful time. They’re traveling home today, so I’d appreciate your prayers for a safe trip.

Those of use who’ve stayed home enjoyed things like:

$1 scoop ice cream night at Baskin Robbins. I love $1 scoop night. It’s just enough of a treat to enjoy without feeling guilty about the calories. I had my favorite: old-fashioned butter pecan. What’s your favorite?

A game marathon of our two favorites – Uno Attack and Aggravation. Luck seemed to be in my favorite, but Megan did beat me a few times…and took great pleasure in doing so. Josh didn’t want to play, but he hung out with us.

Megan also enjoyed a little of this:

Our cat, since he’s become an indoor/outdoor cat, has been bringing us lots and lots of yard moles – to the tune of one a day or so. He is a fearless hunter, our Gus, and he provides well for his people. This one, however, was still alive:

Although I’m not very crazy about them, I couldn’t just not give this guy a fighting chance, so we got a shovel, since I wasn’t sure how fast he’d be (not very, I discovered) and, after a little convincing, got him on it long enough to put him off the porch and into the grass. He must have survived the night because Gus didn’t bring us any presents the next day.

We had a hailstorm Wednesday with some pretty good-sized hail.

Josh and Megan spent the night with their grandparents Wednesday night. Exciting mom that I am, I was most excited about going to bed as early as I wanted – how sad is that? – and getting a good night’s sleep.

I couldn’t sleep. Figures.

I got up Thursday morning and went running, then, came home, got ready and went grocery shopping. Alone. I don’t think I’ve ever been grocery shopping that early in the morning. It was so quick with the store nearly deserted!

Josh came home from his grandparents with a camouflage shirt he’d picked up at the thrift store. He wanted to make a cover – which has a name, but I can’t remember what it is – for his air-soft so it doesn’t give him away when he’s hiding. I thought the result was pretty creative:

Saturday morning I’m running my first 10K. I’m hoping to be able to do it in an hour and fifteen minutes or less. We’ll see. Either way, as long as I finish, I’ll be proud of myself. I never thought I’d enjoy running, much less for 6.2 miles at a time.

  1. The thumbnail might be fun to have! Clearly you're more skilled than I am…I can't even figure out how to add a linky list on my blog.

That yard mole is too cute. And the hail is downright freaky. 🙂

  2. I love Uno, but I've never played Uno Attack before,  I'll have to check it out!

I can't help but have my heart broken by that little mole.  I know that's what kitties do but… 🙁

Who doesn't love ice cream and running through the sprinklers??  Sounds like you guys had a great week!

  3. Uno attack is lots of fun. You should try it. Don't feel too sorry for the little moles. They can ruin a yard.

  4. I don't think it really matters about the thumbnails. I'm just fine w/a title since that is what I read of others anyway.

  5. Games and ice cream – sounds like summer to me! We also got hail Wednesday night but not as big as yours. And, because of the storms, we found a little flying squirrel napping in the treehouse part of the backyard swing set. Nature up close!

  6. I couldn't even fully open my eyes as I read your blog. Too afraid of more mole pictures. Rodents wreck my world. Otherwise, your week looked fun!  I can't wait until my two are old enough to play real board games and go to summer camp. I enjoy your blog…I am considering homeschooling my soon to be kindergartener. He is supposed to start in August. I had better make up my mind, huh?

  7. I'm happy without thumbnails.  My computer loads slowly.

It sounds like a great week, and I'm glad you save the mole!

You're running a 10K!  Wow!  Good for you.  Who would have imagined that two years ago?

    Blessings,

    Annie Kate

  8. Our cat used to bring us mice on an everyday basis, which was ok with me. The day she brought a couple of baby bunnies though….yeah, not very happy with her!

  9. I'm way behind here, but…. while I don't mind the long title blinkie in posts, I'd love a thumbnail one just to put on my sidebar of link ups I follow 🙂

  10. Oh, the thumbnail I meant would be for the linky itself. You could include a
thumbnail picture from your blog beside your blog name/post title. I guess I
need to work on a button for the Wrap-Up. I'm so not good at graphics.
