Happy Friday!  Do you notice that the post right below this one is last week’s Weekly Wrap-Up?  Yep, I took myself a little blogging break.  I decided to take one on Monday.  Yeah, I’m impulsive like that.

It’s been an enjoyable week.  Brian was off Monday, so we took the day off of school and enjoyed a nice day together as a family for Valentine’s Day.  We took our annual trip to a local Japanese steakhouse…one of those where they cook the food in front of you.  Yum!

Brianna still had to do her Spanish class, but after that the weather was so nice we took off to a local park to do some biking and running.  I never thought I’d see the day when I’d say that I enjoy running.  It’s amazing what taking control of your health can do.

Tuesday we decided to take a “life skills” day since we’d only been home long enough to “dump and run” for a few days thanks to a wonderful marriage conference for Brian and I the weekend before (loved it!) and taking off on Monday.  We got the house in order and laundry caught up while my kids learned skills such as: organization, following direction, interpersonal relationships, delegation, working with a deadline, and, of course, basic life skills associated with managing a home.

The rest of the week was back to the books with our daily, run-of-the-mill school stuff.  Oh!  We finally got mold to grow!  Of course, it was on the fresh bakery bread I bought to have with supper one night.  We didn’t eat the meal when I’d planned and I forgot to put the bread in the freezer.  It’s full of lots of lovely mold now and we’ll be looking at it under the microscope either later tonight or tomorrow.

It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend, so we’re hoping to get out to some more biking and running trails before the weekend is over.  Now, I’m off to see if I can get fitted for a good pair of running shoes to see if that will help my knees.  Have a great weekend!

  1. Oh how fun, the park even the chore day. Hoping your shoes are the perfect fit. It's so funny the store bought bread grew mold. LOL. Have a great weekend! And thank you for hosting the wrap up, I have enjoyed it so much this year and look forward to it.

  2. This beautiful weather has perked us up (and helped motivate us to get our school work done!) Love your life skills day 🙂

  3. "I never thought I’d see the day when I’d say that I enjoy running."

I know how you feel. Lately, I've had a burst of energy and running became pleasurable. I used to dread it.

Sounds like you had a wonderful week!

  4. If you visit my blog you will notice the same thing! I had an Impromptu Blogging Break because the weather has just been too nice to stay indoors and blog.

  5. Yes, we've had mold grow quite by accident too. 🙂

Sounds like a good but busy week. I think we need a "life skills" day around here because we've been gone so much!

  6. Fun week =) Congrats on the mold! I discovered that if you leave a pepper in the back of the fridge for a month, you get pepper juice.

By the way, if you are a new runner going long distances, I might suggest getting orthodics (sp?) at a place like Foot Solutions. I am neither athletic nor a runner, but I decided to run a marathon a few years ago, and those things saved my knees. They're a little pricey, but worth it long-term. Good luck with the running! You'll really learn to enjoy it…and eventually crave it! =0)

  7. I LOVE your *life skills* day!! I've been desperately wishing for a day to catch up on that sort of thing, now I just may have a good way to do it:)

  8. It's great that the weather was nicer for you…we've been enjoying milder temps, too, just wishing we had had them on our trip to Disney World last week lol. Have a great weekend.

  9. I have been seeing the Weekly Wrap-Ups as I have been blog hopping this week, and really love this idea! Perhaps we will attempt to join you next week!

    Following along….
    Many blessings to you

  10. I've been a follower for awhile, but this is the first week I've linked up. Thanks for hosting for us!

  11. Life skills!!! That's a perfect name for all that house stuff. I am totally using that the next time we take the whole day to clean and cook. Thanks! 🙂
