Happy Friday! Where in the world has this week gone? I can’t believe it’s June already. June is my favorite month of the year because it’s my birthday month! I’ll be 41 next Tuesday and I still get excited about my birthday. Anyone else?

It has been a wonderful week of just relaxing around the house. I haven’t really done any housework and just sporadic loads of laundry. Mostly I’ve been reveling in not having anything I have to do. It’s been nice.

Monday we had a cookout at my Dad’s house. It’s always nice to spend time over there. That’s about as exciting as this week got.

Last Saturday I had my fourth 5K. It was a very challenging course and I – along with everyone else, I think – had to walk some, but I expected that from what I’d already been told about the really hilly course.

I think my time was somewhere around 36:30. They didn’t have a clock posted and were just calling out times as people crossed the finish line, but I didn’t know that until later…after I was done and had removed my earbuds.

My watch said I’d run 3.25 miles in 39+ minutes, but a 5K is only 3.1 miles, so I’m guessimating my time based on my average pace. I also ran my second 5 mile long run on Sunday. It was so hot! I ran the whole thing, though…without stopping.

I don’t mean to bore y’all with running stuff, it’s just that that’s pretty much been my focus this week – my 12-week push to lose the last 25 pounds. That and some behind-the-scenes blogging stuff.

I’ve got a guest post up at Successful Homeschooling today that I’m pretty excited about. It’s a recap of my fitness journey with some tips for other moms who may want to use the less busy summer months to get a jump-start on their health. I hope you’ll go check it out and leave me a comment or two over there.

I’m thinking we’ll enjoy one more week like this, then, maybe try to get back into some light school – just some reading and maybe a little math. I think we all needed a break, though, so I’m perfectly willing to enjoy another lazy week.

See? Even the cat was feeling the laziness.

  1. It's my birthday month too!!! Mine was yesterday. I get to go garage sale-ing tomorrow…my birthday tradition! I don't need much to make me happy. Happy Birthday early! And great job on the running. I just couldn't do it myself!

  2. Happy birthday month to you, too! And, as for the running, I didn't think I could do it, either. Now, I think nearly anyone could. I can't believe how much I love it.

  3. I am with you there. We surely do all just need a break! Congrats on your running and I know you'll succeed in the last 25 lb push 🙂

  4. I didn't know you were a June birthday. See? There's no wonder I like you so much — we have so much in common. 🙂

  5. Another June birthday here!  I'll be 32 in 3 weeks.  🙂  It's also my favorite month.  Happy Birthday to you!!  I am in awe of your running.  I havent ran since, well, ever.  We had the option to walk the mile instead of run even back in grade school and I always walked!  Good luck on the weight loss!!

It wasnt a lounging week here, but it certainly sounds like a great idea!
