Weekly Wrap-Up: The last one of 2014
Happy Friday! I can’t believe that Christmas is in less than a week. Are you ready? I’m not. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt as unprepared as I do this year. I’m sincerely hoping I’ll be able to pull it together by next week. It’s not that I haven’t had time, I’ve just been very uninspired, lacking for any original ideas for anyone to whom I’d like to give gifts. {sigh} I wish I had my sister’s talent for gift-giving.
Speaking of my sister, today is my niece’s 1st birthday. It seems impossible that it’s been a year already. I’ve joked all week that, in honor of her birthday, I was going to have a Bones and Castle marathon. It was during the really long day at the hospital awaiting my niece’s arrival that I first discovered the two shows, which quickly became favorites.
We had a small family birthday party last night, during which the birthday girl just as excited about all the tissue paper in the gifts as the gifts themselves. Those are such fun years. She cracked me up, posing for the paparazzi. (No pictures here since she’s not mine to share.)
Today begins a series of Christmas parties over the course of the next week. There’s one for the teen group that Megan enjoys hanging out with a couple of times a month, one for the gymnastics team (Megan’s ankle is much better), and one for Josh’s music school, along with all the family stuff. It should be a fun week, especially for the kids.
Remember, there won’t be a Weekly Wrap-Up next week due to the Christmas holiday. I’ll look forward to hearing about your Christmas and New Year’s happening on the first Friday in 2015, January 2.

Kris Bales is a newly-retired homeschool mom and the quirky, Christ-following, painfully honest founder (and former owner) of Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers. She has a pretty serious addiction to sweet tea and Words with Friends. Kris and her husband of over 30 years are parents to three amazing homeschool grads. They share their home with three dogs, two cats, a ball python, a bearded dragon, and seven birds.
Ooooh, I’ll join you for a Bones and Castle fest!! We are watching the last series at the moment and trying to limit ourselves to one a night, which is frankly as easy as trying to limit my chocolate intake (ie very hard)
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas, full to the brim with love and laughter.
I know! We’re always saying, “Just one more episode.” 🙂 Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Thanks for a great year of inspiring reading! I LOVED both blogs about why we homeschool from parents & kids perspective. Thanks Kris for all you do!
Thank you so much, Ann! You are so very welcome.
I have wrapped exactly 4 gifts out of what feels like several hundred (although in reality, probably less than 30). I’m aiming to have them wrapped BEFORE Christmas Eve this year, instead of our usual panic-marathon where we run out of tape and end up duct-taping Santa’s gifts.
Merry Christmas, Kris!
The comment about duct-taping Santa’s gifts cracked me up. I’m going to try to get all mine wrapped this weekend because I know I need to pick up a few things for our extended family Secret Santa thing. I figure if I can wrap what I’ve got, I’ll actually know what I need – and I can make Brian go last-minute shopping with me to protect me from all the crazy people. LOL
Nothing to link up this week but I just wanted to stop by to say a HUGE thank you for another year of hosting my favourite link up, Kris. Your cheerful, encouraging presence here every week is so appreciated. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Thank you, Lucinda. What a thoughtful comment. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
She’s a whole year old!? Time flies. And I still haven’t checked out Bones or Castle!
I know; it’s crazy, isn’t it? I don’t know how it’s been a year already.
Thanks for hosting! Have a wonderful weekend 🙂
Enjoy your break…I know we will enjoy ours. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 🙂
