Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! I hope you’ve all had a great week. I’m not going to lie – it’s been kind of a rough week here. Sometimes homeschooling is hard. Sometimes parenting a teen is hard. I know my week would seem easy to some folks, but when you’re living it, your hard is hard even when it’s easier than someone else’s hard.

You followed that, right?

Granted, the week hasn’t been horrible, but it’s been a bit reminiscent of a roller coaster ride…just not as fun. But, that’s enough of that. Just a little honesty and no rose-colored glasses to get us going.

Josh had a little company for school Monday morning. With all the rain we had, I think we were all just trying to stay awake and fight the urge to crawl back into bed.

Charlotte, our resident writing spider, even moved to dryer ground. She’s been hiding out between the house and her favorite bush for most of the week. For some reason, that makes her look much larger and creepier.

Thanks to all the rain this week – every day except yesterday – we didn’t get to go swimming. The kids were disappointed, but they did like the fact that staying home meant a lighter school load for the rest of the week instead of trying to make up Wednesday’s work on the other days.

Did you see the giveaway I’m hosting for Great Products? We’re giving away a family of homeschool t-shirts – and, if you can’t wait or you want a few shirts, now is the time to buy. Their $5.99 sale is going on from now until September 10. All their regular t-shirts are on sale and you can take 20% off all other apparel.

I also have a couple of articles at About.com this week: tips on how to rock your homeschool support group meetings with topic ideas for the whole year and ideas on how to turn your teen’s passions into volunteer opportunities.

Now, I’m just happy it’s Friday and hope I can leave the rough stuff with this week and move on. Monday Brian is off work and he and I will celebrate 24 years of marriage. I’m looking forward to our day together!

Have a great weekend, y’all!

  1. Happy 24th Anniversary!! We have just entered those teen years and there are definitely tough weeks. It’s funny, we also have a resident wolf spider who lives in our basement. We keep her alive for the other creepy, flying critters…but it’s so hard to let her live!!!

  2. Sorry you had a rough week. Life with teens is always interesting – they definitely like to keep us on our parental toes!
I hope you have a lovely anniversary this weekend. Maybe the week will end on a high for you. I do hope so x

  3. I was glad for the rain to start with, but now our yard is turning into a jungle because it won’t stay dry long enough to cut the grass! Oh well, there are worse problems to deal with. 😉 Enjoy your anniversary fun, and congrats on 24 years!!!
