Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! How’s your summer going? It’s been hot here this week. According to my car, it was 100 degrees Wednesday. I don’t think it really got that hot, but sweltering is a good way to describe the weather this week.

Thankfully, we spent most of Wednesday hanging out at the pool with friends. (You’ve really got to love hospitable friends with pools.) The rest of the week, we stayed inside for the most part.

The kids had a great time at camp, but I’m happy to have them back. They came back so renewed in their faith that their enthusiasm is spilling over to the rest of the family. It’s really exciting! I ordered Megan and I a couple of books that I think we may try to go through together – What Happens When Women Say Yes to God and What Happens When Young Women Say Yes to God. I’m really excited to get started!

Yesterday, we had some much-needed (though really not quite enough) rain showers. I love a gentle summer thunderstorm. Anyone else?

Poor Josh came home with a cold that he’s battled all week. Thankfully, it didn’t set in before his music performance Saturday night. The whole school did an amazing job! It was their best performance yet.

I usually don’t get to share videos of Josh’s music with you because he’s either performing with other kids and I don’t feel comfortable posting video of people’s kids or he’s performing along with the original music and I worry about copyright issues.

This time, Josh had a solo, so I can share it with you! The video quality isn’t the best, but you can still get the idea.

I was so proud of him! Complete strangers were coming up to him after the show, telling him what a great performance it was.

Apparently, other than me, we’re working on becoming the Von Trapp family because Megan has been taking voice lessons and is getting ready to do her first public performance in the next month or so. I’ll see if she’ll let me share it when the time comes.

I guess the musical gene skipped a generation. My dad plays guitar and sings. I listen to the radio. I think those are the highlights of our pretty low-key, first-full-week-of-being-at-home summer vacation.
