Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, y’all! How is your summer going? Mine? Quickly! I can hardly believe its almost time to start school again. We’re scheduled to start July 7, but I’m seriously considering pushing it back a week or so. The funny thing is, some days I don’t feel mentally ready to get back to school yet, but other days, it doesn’t seem like a big deal at all – and the thought of getting back to a routine even seems kind of nice.

I did make myself sit down and start looking through curriculum this week. I really want to get Josh and Megan working as independently (from each other as much as from me) as possible this year, so I’m trying to wrap my head around how that’s going to look after so many years of us doing nearly everything together.

It looks like I’ll finally get to do a little curriculum shopping this weekend. If all goes according to plan, I think I’m going to be at the Appalachian Home Educators convention in Pigeon Forge on Saturday. Will any of you be there?

It’s been a relatively quiet, stay-around-the-house week here, which is fine by me after back-to-back weeks of camp – first youth camp for Josh and Megan, then, gymnastics camp for Megan. We got back on track with our one-on-one breakfasts. This week was Josh’s turn and it was really nice to have that time with just him.

Then, Tuesday was the first time I’ve had my niece in a couple of weeks. My mom and step-dad were in the process of moving, so they were at my sister’s house the last two weeks and kept Baby B. I was afraid it might be a rough day since we were out of our routine, but everything went really well. I admit to feeling somewhat guilty about entertaining a six-month-old with TV, but the girl is all about some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I got some laundry and vacuuming done in that 30 minutes!

In other news, I’ve decided that it’s quite handy having another driver in the family. Josh’s music class and Megan’s gymnastics overlap right now. Usually Brian takes one and I take the other, but this week he had something to do after work. It was nice to have Brianna as a backup driver.

It’s kind of sad, but I think that’s the most interesting stuff I’ve got to talk about this week. Y’all probably know me well enough to know that I’m really not sad about it at all, though. I love those low-key weeks at home where I can actually get some stuff done.

We’ve got more exciting plans coming up in the next couple of weeks, so the more social of my kids will be happy. I don’t think any of us were complaining this week. It was just a nice, relaxing week without even a photo-worthy moment as evidenced by this post.
