Weekly Wrap-Up

Happy Friday, friends! The weeks are just flying by. I can’t believe we’re in the middle of August already – the middle of August and, even though we’ve been back at school since the middle of July, we’re finally ready to get down to a full school schedule. It’s been one thing after another this year, but that’s okay. I’m working on being flexible.

Brianna is still enjoying cosmetology school. This week, we had to pay for her books. Y’all, I had forgotten how expensive books for secondary education are. I feel for y’all who have to pay for multiple books for multiple classes. We got her kit, too, so she’s all set.

(I snapped this photo this week because it amused me that the cosmetology student was getting her hair done by her little sister. In her defense, it’s hard to do a fishtail braid on yourself.)

Tuesday, Megan and I went to her school to be guinea pigs for her first shampoos. A sweet friend of the family met us, too. It’s funny the things that I find touching, but that was one of them. Of course, I’m going to volunteer for stuff like that. Megan, my mom, and my sister are pretty logical, too, but I found it very sweet that this friend – Josh’s best friend’s sister – took time out of her day to help.

I think when it comes time to practice things like pedicure and manicures, there will be no shortage of volunteers, either. I’ve also said that I’m up for eyebrow waxing – I just don’t want to be first in line! I’ve decided that there may be more benefits than I’d realized to sending my girl to cosmetology school.

It’s been a busy week for her. Not only is she going to school every day, but she’s in a production of The Little Mermaid Junior at a local community theater. The play opens tonight, so this week has been tech week – full rehearsals every night. Last night was the complete dress rehearsal with full costume and make-up for everyone. She’s really enjoyed it, but I’m guessing she’ll be glad when it’s over, too.

(We took Brianna out to lunch when we went to be her shampoo guinea pigs. Seriously, where else would we go? I should probably take out stock in the company.)

Josh got back from his trip Tuesday night, just a couple of hours before my Facebook party began. If you missed the party, be sure to scroll by through the posts from this week to enter the giveaways. They’re open until Monday.

So, anyway, Josh got back. He had a great time, but I think he was glad to be home, too. It’s always nice to be back home. He probably wasn’t as glad to be back as Brian and I were to have him back. We missed that boy.

I’ve enjoyed the little lull this week, but it’s back to an almost-full course load next week. I’m going to add in a couple more things. Then, we’ll take our first break week the week of Labor Day (pushed back due to all the craziness). After that, it will be back will a full course load for everyone. I hope my brain doesn’t explode!

  1. If I was closer she could totally use my hair for funky cuts/color, etc when she gets around to that! I thought about going to cosmetology school; still kind of wish I had so I’ll live vicariously through Brianna. 🙂

  2. I don’t always have something to link up each week but I do enjoying seeing what other homeschool families are up to. Thanks so much for hosting each week!

  3. It sounds like a great week! You’ll love having your cosmetologist at home. My mom was one when I was little and I never had to pay for a perm in the 80s and 90s LOL.

Love the Chik Fil A pic..I couldn’t imagine you going anywhere else. I have a sneaking suspicion it’s your second home 🙂

    Good luck with the play!!!

  4. My 2 favorite things: getting my hair done and Chick Fil A! Sounds like a fun week to me! We start back on a modified schedule today (Monday).
