Weekly Weigh-In

It’s time for the Weekly Weigh-In, your weekly dose of accountability.  Remember, this isn’t just for my results, you’re encouraged to share your results, too, either by commenting here or on my Facebook page or by posting about it on your blog and leaving the link in the comments.

So, how did you do Christmas week?  As I’ve mentioned before, I find Christmas more challenging, when it comes to food, than Thanksgiving because, where Thanksgiving is one day focused on food, Christmas stretches out to a full week or more.

I started out doing really well on my goals of pre-Christmas moderation and extra activity.  I wound up not working out on Christmas Eve, as planned, and I was really inactive on Christmas Day.  For the most part, I made decent food choices and didn’t indulge in too many treats — some, but not excessive, I don’t think.

So?  My results?  I lost the 1.2 lbs. that I gained last week.  I am exactly where I was week before last.  Hey, I’ll take it!  I’m excited that the scale is moving in the right direction again and, with Christmas food temptations behind me, I can focus on moving forward.

Now, it’s your turn!  How did you do on the scales this week?

  1. I just did my first weigh in. I have no idea what I was before Christmas. I was 94.4 kg. I will start the Jilian Michaels' program with you in January so this week I am focusing on drinking enough water. 8 – 12 glasses a day.

Thank you for the encouragement and honesty with which you share your journey.

  2. Tristan — Great attitude! Can't wait to see what you do this week.

Michelle — Congratulations on getting started! I know how hard it can be to make that decision. I think you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish simply switching from sugary drinks to water. I look forward to seeing how we both do with Jillian's program.

  3. Not for sure where I was last week without having to go back and check. Sad, isn't it that I didn't write it down. Anyhow, I did weigh this morning. I am at 225. Not good, but it could have been worse. My goal is to get below 200 before my birthday in April. I plan on joining you in the Jillian Michaels program in January. I am also going to get back on http://www.sparkpeople.com. I used it before and it worked. I honestly don't know why I stopped using it to begin with. I have also considered doing the couch to 5k program. I am praying about what will be the best for me. I have to get this weight off of me. I already have arthritis in my joints and I know being overweight does not help it at all. Blessings!

  4. I did horribly, but my husband and I are going to be starting the Biggest Loser 30 day jump start plan in a week. I just need to get all the meal planning and shopping done first.

Way to go!! You did great!

  5. I actually impressed myself this Christmas. I didn't over eat at any of my holiday functions and I still managed to get one Shred in over the weekend. I didn't lose or gain which is a win in my book!

  6. I'm just getting started with this. I've followed your progress & rejoiced in your success, and I've wallowed in self-pity. My husband accused me of not living my life because I was too busy reading about other people's lives. So I decided once and for all to get moving & not quit. It's worth changing my life over. I'm sick & tired of these extra 55 lbs making me sick & tired. I'm shaking the dust of the P90X box now…let 2011 be the first year to see the real ME.

  7. Joy: That's a very doable goal. I bet you'll be amazed at how much better your joints feel once you lose some weight. I know I was (and often still am).

Amy: Yes, just put it behind you and move forward. I think I'm going to work on meal plans for myself for next week. I'm going to loosely be following Jillian's JumpStart Diet, but I don't want to be fixing separate meals for myself, so I need to figure out equal calorie substitutions for some of the meals that I know my crew won't eat. You can do it!

Megan: Maintaining over the Christmas holidays is definitely something to be excited about…especially with peanut butter balls sitting around. 😉

Shay: You can do it! I know it took me about a year of watching a friend's journey and wallowing in my own self-pity before I got started. Now, I'm just wishing I hadn't wasted so much time wallowing…but better late than never! 2011 will be your year if you just set your mind to do it and not quit. I can't wait to follow your journey!

  8. I actually gained THREE pounds last week. I knew I had gained. I felt miserable and tired even before I stepped on the scale. In fact, I knew I had gained, so I opted to weigh in with full clothing, and my heavy sweater. I love Tristan's attitude, which I will adopt as my own. It's a new week. It's a new year. I am 31 pounds lighter this year than last, so I know it's doable with renewed focus! I absolutely cannot wait to go clothes shopping in the Spring for something ultra feminine! My goal is to lose another 20 pounds by the end of March. That will put me at 50 pounds lost in one year.

  9. I know you can do it, Mamosa! You also know you have two once-a-week walking buddies, if you want them. 😉

  10. Mamosa: I was 35 lbs heavier this time last year, so I know it is doable as well! We can do this. Can't wait to shed those pounds!

Kris: Thanks for all of your encouragement!!
