I’m sure by now you’ve heard about Great Homeschool Conventions. You probably know about their massive vendor hall and the huge line-up of fabulous speakers, but today I wanted to share with you 10 things you may not know – and offer you a chance to win a family registration* plus 4 tickets to The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe theatre production, which will be held on Friday night at each event location.

*Family registration covers mom, dad, children/teens, and their grandparents for all three days of the convention and includes the speaking sessions and shopping in the vending hall.

homeschool event of year

1. There are 4 locations across the country. You can attend a Great Homeschool Conventions event in:

2. There are 4 different specific-interest tracks to choose from. There is a Homeschooling 101 track for new homeschoolers, a teen track to help teens learn to defend their faith, a special needs track, and a parenting track.

3. Each event features a special Children’s Conference. With a separate registration, your kids ages 3-12 (6-12 at the California event) can enjoy a special Children’s Conference from the folks at Giant Cow Ministries.

4. You can hear the first-hand account of holocaust survivor, Dr. Inge Auerbacher. Dr. Auerbacher, who lived in a concentration camp for 3 years, will be speaking at the Southeast and Midwest events.

5. There will be comedians. Bob Smiley will be performing in Texas and Dennis Regan will be in California. You folks in South Carolina and Ohio will just have to laugh at each other. It shouldn’t be too hard. Homeschoolers can be funny people in my experience.

6. There will be singing. The Willis Clan will be performing in South Carolina, Texas, and Ohio. California folks, warm up your vocal chords. {grin}

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

7. There will be drama. No, not that kind of drama. Good drama – a production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by Friends of the Groom.

8. There is a gift registration option. Know someone who wants to attend a Great Homeschool Convention? Bless them by paying for their registration. The gift option makes it simple to do so.

9. Great Homeschool Conventions has a blog. Follow along with the GHC blog to keep up with all the latest information, plus get inspiration for your week and tips and ideas you can put to use in your homeschool.

10. You can go for free! Well, if you win the giveaway, that is. Check out the details below.

  1. Are they non-profit like all the state group-run conventions? My friend asked them on Facebook but they immediately deleted her comment, so I’m assuming not.
