Some of you may remember that about this same time last year I was ecstatic to find a brand-new Julie Garwood historical romance. You may remember that Julie Garwood is my all-time favorite author. You may also remember how sorely tempted I was to pay brand-new, hardcover price for her new book last year…and how I would have done it, if I’d had any Christmas money left. Well, thanks to signing up for Julie Garwood’s email updates, I knew ahead of time that her brand-new contemporary romance was coming out on December 30.

So, I saved my Christmas money.

Not only was her brand-new contemporary romance coming out in hardback, but the book that I was so excited about last year came out in paperback on the same day. So, I went out Tuesday night and had a book lover’s shopping spree. What else are you supposed to do with Christmas money, if not to splurge on something that you wouldn’t normally buy? After all, that’s what the person who gave you the money would want you to do, right?

So, ever the people-pleaser, I did what I was supposed to do…

I bought both the new hardcover and the new-to-paperback Julie Garwood books, as well as the book, The Shack, which two of my IRL friends have recently recommended. I also bought myself a book light. I love to read in bed at night…much later than Brian likes to stay up. He usually says that the light doesn’t bother him, but he was really happy to see me looking at that book light. I love it! I’ve used it the last two nights and have been able to enjoy reading without feeling like I was disturbing anyone else. It’s perfect!

I am so excited! Can you, my fellow bibliophiles out there, smell the new-book smell coming through your computer screen?

  1. The search button is in the top left — in the Blogger nav bar. If you type what you want and hit the “search blog” button (or just “enter”), it will search only this blog.

  2. You added a pic of yourself!

    I think I need to make a run to a bookstore…:)

  3. @ Posh Totty — Happy New Year to you, too! I can’t believe it’s 2009 already.

@ Jeannie — Yeah, I finally got brave. I generally prefer to be behind the camera, rather than in front of it.

  4. Awww! Y’all are so sweet. I guess I’ll have to keep you around. Friends like you are good for my self-esteem. 😉 Thank you!
